My entire body was a light yellow fire with bright orange and red tips. Wings erupted from my shoulder blades, spreading wide beside me. They were covered in orange and deep red flames. Every step I took turned the sand on the shore into glass.

The sky thundered with each clash, crimson lightning splitting across the clouds. Valen grabbed her by the throat and hurled her into the air. She twisted mid-fall, summoning wings of burning energy that unfurled behind her — made of light and shadow fused with blood. The Blood Empress had risen. She landed softly, barefoot now, her body glowing from within. “You talk about power, Valen.
