Chapter 36 Foxy’s POV I’m no longer Sam. I feel it so clearly as we walk to the table where Alpha Blair and my old friend Micki are waiting. Sam would never betray Micki by hooking up with her fiancé behind her back. Shit. What was I thinking? I didn’t know that was for sure. And, of course, the Alpha didn’t resist me either. If not, he welcomed my advances. I’m Foxy, and that will never change. I won’t dwell on the past anymore. I will continue my journey to my independence, but I need to be wise regarding what the Alpha can do for me. I need my wolves. It doesn’t matter how great Ace is; he can’t make me completely whole. I need more.

Toby was kicking up dust and dirt as he waited for my signal. “Let's go!” I rumbled. Toby kicked off before me, zooming down the path. Man, that wolf was fast, maybe one of the fastest in our pack. His light-brown fur glided effortlessly against the wind, then his head turned around slightly, looking back at me. The wolf smirked as his green eyes sparkled against the sun's rays.

When I finally heard him, my blood ran cold. “Come here foxy fox. Come here, foxy fox. I wanna play some more.” Did my green eyes really give me away as the Fox, or was it a coincidence, because he seemed to like to give nicknames to the people he harassed? I sat in that tree for what seemed like forever. Besides my heartbeat, I heard nothing and saw nothing of Ezra.

But she couldn’t explain it away, not when she looked at his mouth from which two teeth were protruding now. No, not teeth. Fangs! Pointy, sharp fangs like those of an animal. Like a Sabertooth tiger. She couldn’t think it, no, because to think it made it real. It couldn’t be real. It didn’t exist. He didn’t exist, not like that.

The dim yellow light flowed across the walls, distorting and shifting the shadows of the beasts, making them seem alive and adding an eerie atmosphere. "Look at that one," Carl suddenly stopped and pointed to a carving on the left wall. Following the direction of his finger, Amelia saw a beast that resembled a fox but had nine tails, each covered in colorful patterns. A single horn grew from its head, and its eyes were gentle and lively. "It looks somewhat like a Nine-Tailed Fox, but it's not quite the same."

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" "It's splendid!" Leaf squealed. I looked towards the talker and flinched with shock and fear when I saw a fox sitting in front of me. The fox was 5.7ft tall, with rose gold fur with a long white streaky trailing from his head to his fluffy tail. His paws were white too and the inside of his ears red. He was beautiful. "Love you!" Leaf shrieked. "You are so cute, Foxy!"

I stared at my phone, and the picture of Connor and I kissing in my car before we left to go nap at his house. Someone had taken the picture through one of the classroom windows by the looks of it. There was only a single caption over the photo. Guess who's the ultimate fuckboy? "What the hell is this, why would someone do that?" Connor shrugged towards me, a bewildered look on his face. "I know right, they took away the snapchat hotdog filter, and now this!?"

In the end, I think they turned out great. Not that I knew what the others were for but there was also a frog on a log, a humming bird and a fat Cardinal. The very last one I was drawing was for Arlo. He got those picture for us, or more for me. It was of a wolf. It’s head was downward with his teeth showing. The hair was standing straight up with a human skull under it’s paw. There wasn’t any flesh on it, just the bones. Originally, I was going to make it a dead rabbit or something but this seemed appropriate. Keeping this one black and white, kept some of the mystery alive. “Charlotte??” Waylon yelled as he was coming in.

He wants his mate to be a werewolf like him, that’ll understand pack life and pack politics, have all his pups, and play house. Not a stupid fox. Not me. “Well, we foxes are a different caliber than werewolves!” I shot back in frustration. I desperately look away from his body, trying not to be swayed by him. Instead, I breathe in his scent and I feel a bit antsy. “We’re not exclusive.”
