Confronted with the mystical force, James remained motionless. As the two golden foxes charged forward, he bore an ominous grin. Then, something strange occurred. Upon reaching James, the two golden foxes abruptly halted and their roars silenced. Their bodies underwent a rapid reduction, transforming into two small nine-tailed foxes.

Yet, there seemed to be no bullet fired. “The magazines are here.” Tyr lifted his hand, showing the clip in his hand. “I told you that your gun couldn’t kill me.” Foxy froze. It was like she had seen a ghost. Tyr had not only dodged her first bullet but also stole her magazine from right under her nose. She did not notice a single thing or even grasped when he had struck. The speed far exceeded Foxy’s understanding. “You can have it back.” Tyr did not show a shred of mercy. He slammed his palm to Foxy’s chest and the other to her mouth. In a blink of an eye, Tyr had already stuffed a handful of bullets into her mouth.

Right now, those orbs are big and shiny with an equal proportion of glee and greed. “Really? You’ll get me three new ones? From Gucci?” “I swear on…” I look around, my gaze latching on the ugliest stuffed toy I’ve ever seen. My nose wrinkles in surprise. I have honestly never set eyes on a stuffed animal this ugly; “Is that… a mangled Winnie the Pooh?” “Yeah.” “Fine. I swear on his life.” “He’s not alive, girl.” Zeya feels the need to point out. I shrug. “I swear on him regardless.”

It’s Snowflake, my childhood pet fox, white fur shining even in the dim light. My heart leaps with relief. “Snowflake?” I whisper, reaching out. But as I step closer, the beautiful fox’s body rots before my eyes. Its fur falls away like dead leaves, revealing flesh crawling with worms and bones breaking through the skin.

Bones cracked, muscles expanded, and his form grew larger. But then I realized something was terribly wrong. This was not his wolf. The creature standing in front of me was massive—far bigger than Aiden’s true form had ever been. Its fur was pitch black, darker than the night itself, and it looked almost unnatural, like shadows clinging to its body. A foul smell filled the air around it. Rot. Decay. It was the sickening scent of something dead. My stomach turned as I stared at it. The wolf’s eyes glowed with a cruel, unnatural light, and the energy radiating from it felt heavy and suffocating, like pure anger given physical form.
