Wolf Next Door Novels & Stories

The air grew colder, heavier. At the bottom was an iron door, half-covered in moss and carved with a wolf crest that pulsed faintly in the dark. Indra pulled a rusted key from her satchel and unlocked it with a soft click. The door creaked open. The room inside was quiet. No windows. One glowing crystal overhead bathed the space in pale blue light. In the centre of the chamber lay a massive white wolf, curled on a bed of velvet and stone. Her fur was thick, clean, and untouched by time. Her chest rose and fell with slow, steady breaths.

"My father always comes home for dinner, and I need to be there when he arrives. I don't want him to start distrusting me." He sighed frustrated. "Fine, but leave the window open tonight," he winked at me. "Why, neighbor?" "Because the wolf wants to take care of his she-wolf." "I'm not... that." "Not yet." I got scared. "Kessler, I don't want to and I won't be an animal, let alone one that kills. I could never."

Leila took a peek outside by the window – slightly sneaking from her curtain – only to be shocked because she saw a pack of wolves with creepy red eyes around her house! ‘Holy mother of cats and dogs! I mean – wolves and dogs! Urghhh! What the hell?!’ She mentally thought as panic instantly crept into her system. ‘Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!’ She thought like it was a mantra that could make the wolves go away inside her head. Her mind was clouded by too many thoughts – one after the other. Did Hunter know that she already knew his real identity? Were all of these his associates? What are these, anyway?

In my state of utter depletion, I forced myself to believe that everything crazy about tonight—from the solid chest that appeared in front of the truck to the wolf ears in the mirror—was nothing more than a toxic hallucination. On the borderline between consciousness and coma, I faintly felt the warmth of Nanny’s hand as she pulled up the blanket for me. The room sank into a quiet darkness, but amidst the rumbling thunder outside the window, a whispering voice, trembling and laced with dread, slipped into my fracturing subconscious: "The late Madame's seal... has finally broken. The legendary White Wolf bloodline can no longer be hidden..." The sharp creak of the medical kit being tightly gr

A rustle of snow. A shadow moved. Then— A lone wolf stepped out of the darkness. Massive. Black fur. Eyes glowing silver. Rylan stiffened instantly. “Not possible.” Kade swore. “That can’t be—” Lyra’s heartbeat tripped. The wolf lowered its head… in a bow. “What is that?” she whispered. Rylan’s voice was barely human. “A sentinel.” Lyra’s breath caught. Sentinels were ancient wolves said to serve only one bloodline—one house. A house believed extinct.

I couldn't understand why my friend said the man looked familiar, but then I realized it was Joe, my neighbor and Lesley's husband. Sometimes we would travel together, and I would post our group pictures online, so it wasn't surprising that my friend recognized him. Seeing the way they acted around each other, it didn't seem like they had only just gotten close the night before. When did it all start? After they left, I got out of the car and installed surveillance at home, then checked the trash in the bedroom. My fist tightened in anger when I saw what was in there.

Gerwulf warned her. "I wasn't actually following you. That mall is on my territory," Ross scratched his chin and shrugged," I just happened to be in the mall when I thought I smelled Gerwulf there, but instead I met his Luna. How was I supposed to know who she was? She hasn't been announced and I think I'm the first neighboring pack member that's seen her. I'd been invited to stay here a few days so I decided to follow you and see if you had a faster route back." "Whatever," Beth mumbled and crossed her arms over obviously not believing him. Both of the boys tightened their grip on her giving a collective," we need to check on our daughter."

He flicked the television onto the news as he told someone on the phone to: "get up here, now!" Breaking News flashed across the screen, and a scene similar to what she had witnessed last night appeared. Another rogue wolf attack was in progress; this time on one seventy sixth street in Washington Heights. Cars had crashed on both sides of the street with barely moving bodies littered nearby. The chilling, haunted feeling had returned to settle in her bones. Why was this happening? Victor turned at the knock at the door. Gil was on the other side, giving Victor and Enora a nod as he went directly into the rooms, likely to check the windows.

The northern vicinity was where Zach’s pack house was located. Could it be that Zach’s pack had been obliterated?
