Lana's gasp of terror could be heard as she looked out the window, Maddie's cries still audible over the sound of my snarling and the rogues' growling as they closed in. "Maddie go in your bedroom, sweetheart," Lana called softy, and the shake in her voice gave me all the motivation I needed to lunge forward, taking down the biggest wolf with me. The wolves around us howled and yipped in excitement as our teeth and claws collided. They weren't prepared for the kind of fight I was willing to give to protect my family. I latched my teeth down, getting a hold of his throat as he kicked and bucked to get me to release my jaw.

I place the crackers on the table just inside the door as I make my way over to the desk. A large book is open on top of the papers. I turn the book around so I can see what is written on the pages. At the top of the page there is a picture of a large Silver Wolf. Tracing my fingers delicately over the image of the wolf, my heart begins to race. River pushes forward to look at the pages with me. The words on the page are handwritten and some of the writing is beginning to fade.

Werewolves are turning blue and some are even decapitated when in their wolf form. “Wait… I think I’ve read something like this before. I remember back at the library, while I was researching about myself. It was the same thing.” I remember reading about this in that old book at the library. I can’t be mistaken. It’s the exact same thing. I leaned back in my chair and whispered to myself, "This is exactly what the book said."

I have only ever heard stories from my seniors of werewolf's being able to stand on two legs, I thought it was just a myth considering I've been a werewolf hunter for so long, killed hundreds of wolves and has never seen one this big. This must be what they call a hybrid wolf, a wolf much more ruthless than an alpha. During all that was happening I somehow notice that he or it was gorgeous. The kind of beauty that shouldn't belong to something so deadly. And yet, as he turned to look at me, there was no cruelty there. Only concern.
