“Killed one of these a few years back,” Ecaeris commented. I hadn’t realized that she was beside me until she spoke and almost jumped. “The carapace is too hard for a normal sword. I had to let it swallow me and kill it from the inside. Definitely one of my top-most disgusting kills, but I still prefer it to the giant spiders. Your sister killed this one, with your mother’s sword. It is a promising sign.” She looked down at me. “That is Aien’s coat. I had it made for him.”
“Oh,” I glanced down at it, caught off-guard by the abrupt topic change. “That was kind of you.”
