Episode 19 Maxwell I was stunned by his sudden question, it took me a while to think of the right words to say to him. How do I tell him I don't hate him, in a way that wouldn't be offensive. I sat up and stared at him, while he looked back at me, with those eyes full of sadness. Yes recently I gave been having this indifferent feeling around him, and I can't deny that maybe a part of me wants to have something to do with him and whereas the other part is just scared it might be the wrong move, or I just need to ignore whatever feelings I was having towards him.

A storm was brewing inside me, raw, insistent, impossible to ignore. Heat pooled low in my belly, spreading like wildfire, wrapping every nerve ending in molten, urgent need. My breath came in shuddering bursts, heavy and deliberate, each exhale carrying a trembling mix of frustration and anticipation. Words failed me; only a single, all-consuming emotion existe. Need.

I am rendered speechless, unable to find the right words to express the mix of emotions swirling inside me. “There’s got to be an explanation.” But what? What could possibly explain this strange, burning sensation, this feeling of being so untethered? I’ve dealt with stress, with fear, with the adrenaline rush of escape attempts and confrontations. But this? This is something entirely new. I stand again, unable to stay still, the energy coursing through me demanding movement. I try to channel my thoughts elsewhere, to distract myself with memories of home, of my family, but it’s like trying to grasp smoke— elusive.

The answer disturbed him. I felt that through the bond immediately too. He stepped further into the tent before lowering his voice. “What does it feel like?” I struggled trying to explain it. “Like… emotions that aren’t mine keep brushing against me.” “Can you hear thoughts?” “No,” I answered quickly. “Not exact thoughts.” I swallowed hard before continuing. “But I can feel things.” Jacob stayed silent, waiting for me to continue. “Fear,” I whispered. “Pain. Anger. Grief.”

It's crazy that you want to do a lot of things but you are incapable because of the situation. When the little girl held my fingers and played with it all unexplainable feelings gushed through making me wild and crazy. I couldn't grasp what feelings are trying to creep me but guilt and longing were prevailing. I want to hold her small hand to understand this feeling but only frustration waves me as I can't touch her at all.

My eyes widened in exasperation as I struggled to convey my message. "I feel things for you that I shouldn't feel." I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. "I don't know how or when it started but I can't control this dumb feelings," I gripped my chest tightly as it was becoming hard to breathe and he looked at me in amazement, his eyes flickering with every word I said. "I know I shouldn't feel this way. It's a ....sin.... I cannot...” I stuttered trying to find the right words to say as he moved close to me and softly held my arms.

To say that I am shocked to my core would be the understatement of the year. In fact, I do not think that there is a word in the English Language that captures how I feel exactly. Perhaps if I spoke French or Chinese or any one of the more expressive languages, I would find a word that perfectly explains this feeling. It is a deadly combination of excitement and dread. It feels as though I desperately want this to go on while but also desperately want it to end.

I asked, as I glanced at him, to see if he felt okay with the question I asked. "it's quite complicated Eli, and hard to explain, but when I transform it's an indescribable sensation. It's like a surge of power and energy flowing through me, and my senses become heightened. It can be both exhilarating and overwhelming at the same time." he explained carefully.

I said. "Not—" He stopped. "Not the way you do. It's not, I don't feel what you feel. It's more like." Another stop. The difficulty of a man trying to find language for something that did not have an established language. "Weather. The way you feel weather changing in a room. Not the weather itself. The change in the air." I turned around.
