Author|~S.Y VIOLET When I was a little girl, my mother used to tell me stories about monsters. She used to say ‘ Sleep or a monster will come to take you. ’ I never slept after hearing that though. The mention of a monster coming to get me and the thought of being asleep when he might come, made me jump out of bed and be on my guard.

"Ahhh... I yelled out. Trying to get his hands out of my hair. "Please let go of my hair." I am sorry." I am so scared because the monster inside him just came out. I can't help him if he is way too gone. So, I keep trying to calm him down. Please, I started to rub his shoulders and chest. "Kiss me, please." I took his face and kissed his mouth. "Please," I said between kisses. He just asked a question, I promise you. " I am your Derrick. You don't worry." I am yours," I told him.

“What were they looking for exactly?” “Well,” the boy said, tapping his finger on his chin as his attention lifted to the tree above Gabe’s head, “when I first saw them, they were still on their horses. They rode to me, instead of going to the house first. The one who seemed to be in charge had evil eyes and hair as orange as the sun.” Unease washed over Gabe. Evil eyes… There was one man who fit that description. Lieutenant Mercer—the very man who nearly captured The Avenger several weeks ago. Gabe’s stomach churned with worry. “What age was this man?”

I am glued at the ground while the monster in front of me is ready to devour me. "Please...don't..." my heavy breathing became ragged as the monster slowly walk towards me. This monster has a thick fur. It's huge and its sharp teeth is gritting in front of me. It is a wild wolf that wants to eat me. My heart hitched up when it agressively went towards me and the only thing I could do is to shout for help. "Lexis Midnight!" I immediately opened my eyes as I heard someone called my name. I sat down and roam my eyes around. My brows furrowed as I felt the sweat on my forehead. I stared at my dad and mom who was watching my reaction.

But no matter how loud my voice is, no one answered me. I suddenly stopped walking when I felt like someone was following me. My heart beats so fast because of nervousness. I'm all alone here and no one can help if a wild animal attacks me. My eyes widened in fear as a monstrous female worm suddenly appeared at my back. It has long hair but no face. It has two human-like hands and a very long body. The other parts of its body are still buried in the ground because of its extreme length. "Give me your face!" the monster worm suddenly speaks to me and then rushed at me. I screamed while dodging her attack and then I ran quickly.

"I don't know what it is, but something about this book doesn't sit right with me. We should proceed with caution." Penelope stood up abruptly, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I'm not giving up that easily. We need to find those missing pages and figure out what they contain. It could be the key to getting rid of the monster inside Karen." With that, the three of us left the table and separate ways, each with our own thoughts and concerns about the mysterious book and what it could mean for our future. And I started getting suspicious about this. Four people have seen the book. Alpha Romulo, Penelope, Aiden, and me. My brother gets hold of the book today.

The wind whispered through the window, and I could hear it saying things, like it remembered me. “MAMA! PAPA!” I ran. My feet hit the floor hard. I didn’t stop. Couldn’t. My throat hurt from yelling. Mama was already there, arms open. I crashed into her, shaking. “What is it, baby?” “I—it was here,” I sobbed. “The tree monster—it came back. It was in the corner. It wants me again.” Her voice was soft but firm. “It can’t get you, sweetie. You are safe. I promise.”

All I could hope for her to be happy and never come back to this place . I got up from the park bench . The early morning sun didn't help much with the cold either. I smiled at how terrified Belle was of giving her finals . She had clung on the phone call forever to find comfort .It felt good to know that the things that scared her were as simple as that. I picked up my pace to the haunted place I was forced to call home .
