All I knew was that it came the moment I called, welling in my stomach as it spread its tingling warmth beneath my skin.
I stared at the wick of the candle, picturing gentle flame flickering to life, curling within the darkness as it illuminated the small space in golden light. Holding back the solar flare of power that rushed forwards, eager to fulfill my wants, I let a small sliver through.
It had been just a tad too much, I realized. The wick crackled, a flame sputtering to life that rose a solid five inches before settling back down. The swell of pride that filled me, it was squashed by reality, by the future I held on these three sheets of paper.
