" Once he reached Chrysopoeia, there was no way he could possibly hide his power anymore. Thunder Raid would have to come, so the only thing standing in its way was this formation. He looked around. The bird from before had gotten quite the shock. It was shivering in fear. "Hey, you're back!" Logan said. He examined the bird and found several new wounds. They had formed some scabs and made it look extra grotesque. "What are these?" Did the bird fail to avenge itself? This poor thing! The bird raised its head and paraded its injuries like a peacock. It was obvious—it had won. The scars were just its battle scars.

Ambrose handled the situation well at first, but because he had yet to recover fully, he gradually found himself unable to do so. Ambrose's body was dripping with blood, and he had several wounds, all of which had been scratched by the Fiery Black Vultures. The Golden Wing Eagle did not fare much better. Many of the golden feathers on its wings had been pecked off, and there were still several burn marks on its back from being burned by flames. It appeared to be completely miserable. Chirp! Chirp! When Snowball and Grayball in the cave saw that, they jumped on the spot, wanting to rush over to help, but they were fledglings, so they could only watch and worry.

She looked down at her bird and it looked like the bird was going to scream again. “Kieran” she said holding onto him tight. “Shriek” she mouthed. The bird opened its mouth and she closed her eyes waiting for pain. Kieran held her tight. He could just get rid of the wings and fall, but that was too risky. He wasn’t healed yet. For some reason he was taking much longer to heal. He’d have to fight back. Danny felt chilly. She opened her eyes. “Kieran don’t!” she yelled. The bird release an ear bleeding shriek and she closed her eyes, but what she heard was glass.

Poor thing probably fell from a branch. I closed my eyes, letting that warmth inside me build, focusing on the injured wing. The golden glow came faster this time, curling around the bird like a soft ribbon. “There you go,” I whispered with a smile, lifting it to the air. “Go on. You’re healed now.” It blinked at me, then took flight, and then suddenly behind me I heard a gasp. My entire body stiffened, I gulped hard before I turned slowly, dread tightening in my chest.

He looked like a brave knight. Then Deril started to move a big swing of his machete. With a single swing, he could hurt the bird. But the bird seemed unaffected by the wound on his neck. Deril swung, again and again, the big machete towards the bird. Finally, the bird was seriously injured. Blood poured heavily from his injured body due to Deril's movements. The bird getting flew on its side and eventually lost its balance. Fergodo, in the grip of the bird's claws, was released.

The fence is crap down here, all broken and battered, and nature’s suffering, yet again, for humanity’s dumbfuck ignorance. Even in boots I can move quietly when I need to. I’m slow and steady, making sure I talk to the bird real softly as I make my way over. He flaps hard but he can’t go anywhere. His eyes don’t leave mine at all, and when I get there he caws at me but doesn’t freak out like I thought he might. His feathers are muddy and trashed. His leg looks sore where the wire’s cut him, but it seems like he can still move it.

was heard around the circle. “Put the vamolves in a pile and burn them. Carry our dead to the hospital and prepare for a burial. Wounded, get looked at pronto.” Jet ordered. Without another word, the warriors all ran off to do their jobs. Jet sat me down on a rock as he went to help with the dead. In total, I saw two men that were killed and five injured. The injured kept working though as they put the heads in one pile and the bodies in another. I wasn’t sure if their heads could reattach to their bodies, but I was happy to see they kept them separate.

Near the town center, I saw a hospital. As I approached, a small bird lay on the ground near the entrance, its wing bent at an unnatural angle. Without thinking, I knelt and touched it gently. Warmth flooded from my palm. The healing gift surged forward, stronger than it had ever been. The bird's wing straightened and mended. It chirped once and flew away. I stared at my hand in shock. The stripping had taken my hybrid wolf, but not this. This power must have been separate. The hospital doors slid open. A doctor emerged, nearly tripping over me.

"It was found near one of our construction sites. It’s the boss’s pet bird." The bird flinched slightly but I whispered softly until it relaxed. Then golden light gathered in my hands. The familiar warmth flowed gently into the hawk's injured wing. Within moments, the fracture knitted together. The hawk blinked once then spread both wings effortlessly. With a cheerful cry, it flew across the office before landing proudly on the window sill. The interviewer stared at me then at the bird, then back at me. His expression had changed entirely. "I..." He slowly removed his glasses. "...have never seen healing ability performed with such precision."
