Instead, I would focus on working hard to achieve my dream. I knew that reaching my goal would take a lot of hard work and dedication. Writing a book isn’t easy, and it takes a lot of time and effort. But I was determined to keep going, believing that if I worked hard enough, I could create something truly special. I put all my energy into writing, trying to make my story the best it could be. I am so grateful that readers are beginning to connect with the story I had worked so hard on. This is just the beginning of my journey, but it feels like a big step toward achieving my dream.

“You’re giving people too much credit lately.” “I’m giving them appropriate credit,” I said. He didn’t respond immediately, then said, “You ready?” I looked out at the audience again. “Yes.” He nodded once and stepped slightly aside so I could take the microphone fully. I tapped it lightly. “Hi.” The room quieted. “I didn’t think I’d ever be standing here doing this,” I said. “Not like this.” A few people laughed softly. I continued. “When I started writing this book, it wasn’t to explain myself. It wasn’t to defend anything. It was just… to tell the truth as I experienced it.”

She was indeed God-sent. I told Nina about my dreams to become a great writer like her someday and she encouraged me to try my hand at my first book. I read one of Nina's books in New York titled STIGMA and I fell in love with it. I never knew I was going to meet the writer of that book someday. Nina had been my role model and the thought of it was motivating me. I began my first book without informing Nina. I didn't want her to know. I wanted it to be a surprise to her. I didn't want her to discourage me by going through the book before I was done writing it. I felt her criticism might discourage me from going on.

Nothing was going to drag me down, yesterday was the last day I shed a tear… at least, until her funeral comes. The first thing on my list was also the most mentally draining: finally deciding to write my very first book. A historical romance about a poor orphaned teenage girl with spiritual powers, forced to marry the prince, also seventeen – to produce a prophesied child destined to save their kingdom. Becoming a writer had been my dream since middle school. Back when loneliness wrapped itself around me like a second skin; no siblings, no friends, no one to talk to. I read novels everywhere: in class, at lunch, during free periods. I avoided people because I knew the moment anyone got clos
