As though on cue, Lena's body trembled, and she let out a painful groan.
I gave Sir Smith the book, and he quickly glanced through the illustrations.
“That is all I am able to find. Lena's birthmark looks quite similar to that, but I can't understand what the illustrations mean.” I told him, and he studied the book seriously, making me do the same as he flipped through.
But as I read through again, I furrowed my brows.
“Do you think the mark was evolving?” I asked carefully, not certain.
Sir Smith fell silent and studied it again. From the first page, the image of the mark was faint; on the second, it became pronounced and deeper.
