The whole thing with adapting 'After' feels like a moving target. It started as a film series, obviously, with Josephine Langford playing Tessa. Those movies did their thing, covered a chunk of the books, and then it seemed like that was the end of the road. But there's been this persistent hum about a potential TV series for a while now, maybe to reboot or continue the story properly. I haven't seen any concrete greenlight announcements from a major studio or streamer, though. It's the kind of property that has a built-in audience, so I wouldn't be shocked if it resurfaces, but as of right now, Tessa's on-screen journey is where the movies left it.
Part of me wonders if a full reboot would even work. The films, for all their drama, kinda cemented a specific look and feel for those characters. A new actress stepping into Tessa's shoes would have to overcome that, and the fanbase can be pretty attached. Then again, a longer-form TV adaptation could finally do justice to all the side plots and character development the movies had to rush through. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm keeping one ear to the ground for any news.
