Ophelia waited a step behind Noah, watching as he stepped forward to push the heavy wooden door open. The burnt-colored wood was engraved with an illustration of the Moon Goddess, embracing a crescent moon in her arms while wolves stood below her. Ophelia knew that painting like the back of her hand. Back at home, every entrance had the same illustration. Some even said that the crescent in the illustration referred to their pack. But it was only a hypothesis, no one truly knew the origin of the painting. It could end up being nothing but a coincidence, and its popularity is thanks to the skills of the unknown artist.

I opened it carefully and began flipping through pages. The writing was old, uneven, faded in some places, but the words were still clear. My eyes moved slowly over the first page. A bond of two natures… I frowned, turning the page. Born of great magic and sacrifice. My stomach tightened. “What does that even mean…” I murmured quietly. Then I opened another page. Then I saw a drawing on it. It looked familiar as I leaned closer, staring. A woman, clearly a witch by the robes and symbols around her, was standing over two wolves lying on the ground, as strange lines of magic seemed to curl and swirl around them.

But he sat down on the floor near the fireplace. On the first sheet there was a sketch of the place where Lilya usually walks. A fallen pine trunk in a clearing, along the edges of which is a wolf and a miniature girl. The smallest details are visible: large cones on pine trees and on the ground covered with yellowed needles, a huge Moon on the horizon, the surface of which is covered with craters. In the corner there is a date and an inscription: "Loneliness".

The cover was embossed with a symbol that looked like a twisted, enraged claw mark. Nate crossed the room, the ghost sense of Kieran’s touch still tingling on his skin. He stood beside his chair, close enough to feel the warmth coming from him, and peered down at the pages. The script was old, but the images were brutally clear: depictions of wolves, but different. They were monstrously big, their musculature exaggerated and vicious, with four separate, scary sets of fangs in their gaping maws.

And each new, clearer sketch had a different word underneath. “This is useless. Nothing makes sense,” Shem scoffed and dumped a book on the table. Crusoe however narrowed his eyes as he glanced across all the books. The last one was in his hand and it had the clearest picture of a wolf surrounded by orange and yellow fire. It was infact, made of the fire itself. And underneath it was the word ‘Mate’. “Open the books. All of them to the page with the sketch,” Crusoe spoke up. “Why?” Jericho asked though he was already flipping a book to find the page.

She will help everyone in need. Lilly returned with what she had read, understanding one by one what was written there. "What are you reading?" Debby asked a few minutes later. Lilly looked up at her and showed Debby the book. There, there was a pencil painting of a beautiful woman, she was drawn naked, without wearing any clothes at all. But that's not what made Debby interested. Her hair, nails and even her body were depicted as if she was one with the tree. "What is this?" Debby looked at her confused.

Khyrix immediately stepped between me and the text, "Let me go through it." He laid the book on the table. As he carefully opened the heavy cover to the table of contents, I leaned over his shoulder, holding my breath. There was a strange substance growing all over the pages. Whatever it was, it grew like a network of veins, wrapping tightly around the edges of each sheet. Khyrix’s eyes scanned down the table of contents, instantly opening to page four hundred and thirteen. The page revealed a highly detailed, hand-drawn illustration. It was an exact replica of the massive tree that stood at the heart of our academy grounds.

he inquired casually. She seemed startled from her reading, "O-oh. No. Just...looking at some illustrations." "Ah." He could smell a nervous scent wafting off of her. She was lying. But he didn't press the matter. He was too busy presently. Twillow stared at the illustrations and the fancily scrawled heading that read: Giants. The illustration looked like a horrible, drooling, sharp-toothed, yellow-eyed demon, with gray skin, a thick matted beard, and towered over the scribbled trees.

I said to myself as I turned the pages, “these illustrations are incredible.” As I continued to go through the book I could roughly get what this book was about due to the illustrations. It starts out with a child, a little girl, being thrown to a pack of wolves in order for the adults to be able to get away. The wolves quickly surround the child. The child sitting in the middle, doesn’t cry or scream, instead she's depicted as just watching them with little more in her eyes then resignation to her fate. The next few pages show how the wolves didn’t eat the child, but took her with them.

It will be like a storybook!” Leo nodded enthusiastically. “Let’s do it! I can’t wait to draw the storm scene and the family’s connection with the spirits.” Elara’s fingers danced across her sketchbook as she began to create vibrant images inspired by their words. They spent the morning illustrating their legend, each friend contributing their artistic flair to the pages. The cabin, the family, the storm, and the whispers all came alive in brilliant colors.
