Azariel suddenly paused as he sniffed the air. “Mutant rogues.” He muttered with a smile, “It's been long since we encountered them. I guess Nikolai is really working hard.” As soon as he completed his words, the mutant rogues emerged. Mutant rogues were a more powerful breed of rogue wolves. Mutant rogues were created by injecting the heart of rogue wolves with this same malignant magic.

I exhaled harshly and put my earbud back in and didn't push play, closing my eyes to Everett frowning at me. I pretended to ignore the two as I sat back and listened to them talk. "Rogue is an extremely attractive man, um, plus an A+ assassin, he might fall in love with her at first glance and we will be out of the running, Everett mumbled upset and Cassian laughed at him.

Author’s POV Alpha Derek was breathing heavily when he left the room. As much as he wanted her to suffer, he needed her strong and healthy to reclaim his power, but not until the full moon. The rogue Alpha of the North, that is what they called him. The terror of the Woods, older than all. With his band of rogues, he terrorized packs, stealing, looting, molesting. But he wasn’t always a rogue! Alpha Derek was born to the Alpha Bloodline of the Crescent Moon Park, he had just taken over from his father at the age of thirty when he ran into his mate.

A howl sounds some distance in the front, just at the same time a group of rogues leap out of the bushes. I spring into motion immediately, all my training kicking in. I knock the first one down just before he shifts into his wolf, wrapping the wire around his neck and pulling hard. Suddenly, the clearing is a battlefield. Weapons clash against weapon, rogues fall down. I roll to the side, avoiding the snapping of fangs as a wolf lands where I stood a second ago. From the corner of my eye, I see Ragnar watching it all from the sidelines, like a messenger of death himself.

I leapt at the second rogue knocking him off of the warrior but as we rolled the rogue landed on top of me with his teeth snapping at my face. My interference allowed the warrior to counter attack and sink his fangs into the rogue's throat and rip it open, coating me with the blood. The battle was nearly over and I saw Gamma Xavier’s wolf Torch do something to one of the rogue’s that looked like the rogue was being electrocuted. The wolf dropped to the ground in a jittering, drooling heap and the remaining rogues began to run away. I started to run in their direction when Thunder, Alpha Kieran’s wolf, gave the command to stand down and I stopped.

Harrison offered. “Thanks, but no thanks. Being rogue suits me if you haven’t noticed. It lets me walk in and out of any pack I need to and makes it easier to blend into things when I’m around humans,” Hayden said. “Let’s go inside so I can talk to Mimi and find out everything she knows.”
