I began, lowering my voice like I was about to tell her a grand secret, "that a mother rabbit gives birth to at least five babies at a time?" Raya continued to cry, but I could tell she was listening. I pressed on. "And guess what?" I leaned in, my voice dropping even lower as if I was sharing something only I knew. "Each baby rabbit is a duplicate of the others they were born with." The sobbing slowed. Raya sniffled, lifting her big, tear-filled grayish-blue eyes to mine. Her lips trembled as she hiccupped. "Really?" she whispered. I nodded immediately, my face serious as I told the white lie.

Khiron joined in immediately, his own laughter mixing with mine until we were both leaning against furniture because standing upright while laughing this hard was impossible. "The rabbit," I managed to get out between laughs. "That stupid rabbit caused all of this." "The rabbit that you screamed at like it was a serial killer," Khiron added, wiping at his eyes. "It jumped out at me!" "It's a bunny. A tiny, fluffy bunny." "With very long ears and too many legs moving too fast!" "Rabbits have four legs, Nia. The normal amount of legs." The little rabbit didn't even know that it was a male rabbit, not a female one, but that's not really a problem here. The giant rabbit noticed the small white furball in front of it and sniffed. Usha didn't back down since the rabbit was only taking a sniff of him. Then he felt something wet on his eye and forehead, and realized that the rabbit had licked him. "Oh! You're friendly! Hi! My human calls me Usha!" Usha meowed. It earned him a few more licks around his ears before the rabbit went back to its meal. Usha smiled, feeling that he had just gotten a new friend. So he licked the rabbit back on its cheek.

The sheets still smelled faintly of Sylvan's rain-forest scent, mingled with the sour hint of wolfsbane whiskey and salt from my tears. "Martha?" I called, stepping into the hallway. Hellion blinked her eyes and said. “ Can I touch those?” She pointed her finger on her ears expectantly. The rabbit shook her head and drilled herself on the wall. Hellion retracted her arm, disappointed. Xegris then appeared behind him and glanced at the trembling rabbit lady. He raised his brows at Hellion and then pulled his attention towards the innkeeper. “We’d like to check out.” He said with a smile.

At this moment, Foxy's ears moved, and she shouted excitedly, “Look, there’s a hole here. Could it be your nest? I heard that rabbits like to dig holes. I think this must be it!” A trace of embarrassment flashed across Rabbit's face. It leaned forward and smelled carefully. Indeed, there was a scent of his family.
