“It’s marked on the trunk. Little X’s are carved.” “Oh, well that’s original,” I murmur. She chuckles. “You didn’t notice them did you?” I laughed back. She had me there. “We follow them, and eventually it should lead you out.” We continued walking for a few minutes.“Sincere!” The alarm in Teyana’s voice causes me to jump. I look to my side, and see her eyes frantically roaming around the woods. “Sincere!” “What are you yelling for?” I asked.

Tyee I let Dakota take over the shift, and he immediately stretched his stretched his paws. “It’s about time you let me shift.” Dakota smirked. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. “Alright old man, let’s get going, eh?” Dakota snickered as he got down on his belly for Jennie to climb on. Jennie carefully ran her fingers down our back. “I almost forgot how big you are” She whispered. Dakota nodded his head at Jennie for her to climb on. I felt her fingers grab on to Dakota’s fur, and as soon as she leaned forward, Dakota took off.

We moved stealthily towards the barbed wires with Smith at the rare end. I signaled to Austin and he handed me a plier which I used to cut the barbed wires in such a way that it would be easy for us to fit in, while the rest watch our backs. “Dave are you in position?” I said into my telecom “Positive” “Okay, we’re moving in” “copy that” he replied and we moved stealthily in a single file.

Chapter Ten: The Stitched Shadow The forest was a wall of black needles and freezing mist. I stood frozen, my heart slamming against my ribs as the silver scalpel quivered in the bark of the tree behind me. The woman—the "Stitched Doctor"—didn't move like a human. She glided across the dead leaves, her white coat glowing under the moon.

I hear a long howl in the distance. He shifted? I remember Liam telling me so long ago that shifting typically was something they did at night. Normally if they shifted during the day it was used for fighting, to release anger and training. What in the world does he have to be angry about? He found me, his plans now will go exactly as he wanted. Xavier starts fussing and I realize he probably is starting to get hungry. I have no idea how long I fainted for, but seeing Xavier’s cues it must have been for a while. I pull out my breast and he instantly latches, filling himself full.

Xander growled just as the fire in the center of the room began to die. I kept my eyes locked on my mother though; I couldn’t look away from her. I knew this wasn’t really my mother and that it was just a shifter made to look like her, but she still felt so real. The life drained from her eyes and blood pooled from her mouth. Where the dagger had plunged, I could see the heart glowing a faint purple. That was Xander’s heart, his power source. It was still very much active, but the powers were diminishing before my eyes.

I say. "That's my girl!" Xavier shouts and Aiden growls his disagreement. I shrug it off and down shot after shot. Skullz does exactly as I asked. He keeps them coming. Alcohol doesn't affect shifters usually. Unless you consume large amounts in the space of a small amount of time.

Xander stands up immediately picking up his jacket which he dropped on the couch before he begins the exit the sitting room. "Where are you going?" Xavier calls out. "I'll be right back." ~~~~
