Xander had said it would fade in a couple of days and soon, shifting will become effortless. I smiled remembering Xander and I cuddled up, laying on the grass naked as we stared at the night sky. We had done the verbal acceptance as well. My body felt new, my hearing, vision, strength and nose were heightened. Now I understood why Xander's chamber was secluded, to help keep the noise at bay. As for Aria, she had been silent since we shifted but I could still feel her at the back of my mind watching, waiting.

I thought this is the best time to turn the plan according to the way we planned so I nudged Xander to come out of his trance and help me. "Xander??", I gently tapped his shoulder, wanting him to come down to earth, as it's been a while he is not here due to the shock he is experiencing now because of Xavier finding me after my change. "Huh??",he said while seeing me and xavier alternatively as if we are ghosts , but I clearly gave him a look in a pleading way to clear his thoughts, change his expression and help me before this situation gets out of our hands.

I felt her beneath my skin, pacing, stretching, whispering to me in pulses of emotion. Power, she said. Belonging, she said. Mine. Xander noticed the change immediately. “You’re walking differently,” he muttered as we rode side by side through the thinning forest. “Lighter. Controlled.” I didn’t reply. He glanced at me again. “You shifted, didn’t you?” “Almost,” I said. “Not fully.” “Good,” he said, but his voice lacked warmth. “Don’t rush it. The first time can break bones.”

For one terrifying second, nobody moved a muscle. Then Gabriel shoved past all of us like a madman. “WHAT?!” he roared, his voice booming through the entire damn mansion.

I was sure about my choice, I just didn’t know how. “I’ll shift for you first Precious, then you, then Wyatt and Alaric will join us,” Xander was calm and I nodded, but you could tell that he was apprehensive about how this was going to go. Xander stepped away from us a bit, winking at me before the loud snapping sounds echoed, and in a matter of seconds he dropped to all fours, long black hair covered him, and he stood as tall as me with those honey-colored eyes locked into mine as he stalked towards me.

Steven said as he remembered a now dead Thogg's blood which had already clotted on the living room floor. "Roger that boss" Cage stamped his fisted right palm on the left part of his chest. The remaining part of the gang bowed their heads as The Big Four walked out of the room. What just happened to Thogg was part of the X-habit game. Play by the rules or get punished in return. Commit a sin and get ready to pay a sacrifice. That was X-habit.

“So can you only shift once a day?” Pursing my lips, I pulled my knee up to my chest. “No…” “So you lied.” “Only about that! I didn’t lie about anything else!” I tried to defend myself but he glanced at me with a raised eyebrow. Turning away from him, I wrapped my arms around my leg. Sam had leaned in between the main seats, taking the opportunity to listen to some gossip. She spoke up first. “So…what’s this about shifting?” “Have you see Sky shift?” Justin asked Sam as I felt his eyes on me.

I quickly stripped down my clothes and shifted, still slightly painful but getting easier. X was thrilled to be out. I let her take over and just run.

Sharon would be a fool to trust her instincts alone. As for asking Rick… that was out of the question. She didn't trust any of the three Kalen brothers. She half-expected they would sabotage her given the chance. "Mind if I take a look?" Thomas asked. Sharon handed him the folder. Since he would be accompanying her to her new job in the Kalen Group, there was no point in secrecy. As Thomas reviewed the documents, Sharon's phone buzzed—a call from Xavier. He had recently shifted his operations from Zachemaine to Marcentine and was still settling in. Yet, the moment Sharon requested his help, he had cleared his schedule to analyze the materials she sent.
