Under the Pale Moon

Under the Pale Moon

He called himself an 'Ancient One' right? I flipped through the notebook, searching for the information on them. I couldn't find anything. There were a few blank pages at the end of the notebook and on one of them was the words: Ancient Ones? Old Vampires? Something else? Ask Rakesh for more information. I furrowed my brows at this and then glanced over to the sleeping beauty in question.

Vickie: Dr. by day. Zombie Hunter by night (Book 1)

“It was in a story book as a child, but I remember it. The spider crawled into the head through the ear while the person was sleeping and settled in its brain. It became a beacon or transmitter for the witch who was controlling the people.” “Damn. How old were you when you read that? A teenager, I hope.” I laughed. “Actually, I was about ten years old. The book belonged to my cousin who was trying to frighten me.” “Which means that your cousin was a boy and not much older than you.”’ “Of course.”

Vampire Witch (Book 1 Vampire Witch Trilogy)

Vampire Witch (Book 1 Vampire Witch Trilogy)

The vampires were arriving a week earlier than expected and the preparations still weren’t completed. I suddenly remembered the story of “The Wizard of Oz”. It was one of my favorites. My mother read it to me regularly and, when I was old enough I read it on my own, I did so over and over again. I loved the way Dorothy was able to click her heels and return to the safety of her home. How I longed to be Dorothy just then.

Lurking In The Dark - Book 1

Lurking In The Dark - Book 1

I could only hope that she would have settled in again by tonight, because otherwise I would be allowed to sleep on the couch one night again - and it was really uncomfortable. Sighing, I leaned back and opened the completely tattered book again, which I actually already knew by heart. But I wanted to repeat as much as possible today so that I could get off to a good start tomorrow. I ran my finger over the familiar table of contents. Foreword, evolution, instinct, social life, physiology, reproduction, ancestry, stem groups and subspecies. How many times had I made this movement with my finger? I couldn't count it anymore, but it was like a little ritual I had to go through before I could s

Obsessed (Book #12 in the Vampire Journals)

Obsessed (Book #12 in the Vampire Journals)

It was an image of Scarlet’s face. Caitlin felt her stomach roll with anguish. How had her daughter’s face come to be on this ancient text in a lost vampire library? Once again, she thought of destiny. It was as though everything had already been decided. No, it was more than that. If felt as though everything that was happening now had already happened before, as if they were living in a constant loop with history swirling round and round, repeating ad infinitum. The life she was living was just one cycle, one in which the outcome had been predicted before, but was not set in stone. She could change the premonitions and prophecies. Whatever was supposed to happen, she still had control over

Death of Vampires (Book #2 of BTCO)

She walked towards where her daughter was and she stared at her for a while before moving her eyes to Hazel. “Thank you, Hazel,” she said it like she meant it and she moved her eyes back to fall on the book of prophecy before gripping it tightly. “Caitlin! No,” Hazel expressed shock when she suddenly realized and she quickly made to save the book but she was too late as the book turned to ashes as soon as the flames engulfed it.

Moonlight Queen

Moonlight Queen

“I don’t understand.” Susan cleared her throat, her tone serious. “I’m sure you’re aware of the history of the Great War. The werewolves and the vampires have been at odds for centuries. What do you think would happen if Yvonne went home and told her parents that some students at school are vampires? Trust me, the Black Witches won’t be left out of the bloodshed. Protecting their identity from her is also protecting ourselves.” Helen scoffed, frustration evident in her voice. “I just don’t want her around Alex. You know how Yvonne can be when she wants something.”

Things You Need

Things You Need

By the time Momma passed I was married with a little one on the way, so my chance for college had passed, too. But I never stopped reading. Got me a nice little library out back, filled with all sorts of books crammed on bookshelves made by my own two hands. Books like Tom Sawyer, Edgar Allen Poe stories, Huck Finn and The King in Yellow, (that last one I don’t read much cause it always gives me strange dreams), some old mysteries, a clutch of Lovecraft’s books (they hurt my head, too, so I don’t read them much neither), my Hardy Boys books from growing up, and a whole bunch of newer ones by Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Got some heavy thinking books, too. The family King James, The Book of

The Phantom Butcher (Shadow Crawlers Book 1)

The Phantom Butcher (Shadow Crawlers Book 1)

Logan puffed his chest in pride, and Asher laughed at his best friend’s antics. He remembered Ronan Leon, a man with a habit of kidnapping teenage girls with blonde hair and hazel eyes. He tortured, raped and then sliced his victims. He had killed at least eleven before the Shadow Crawlers ended him for good. Ronan was a human and Asher wondered how much worse a human could be when compared to the supernaturals to commonly coined as monsters. “Alright, stop whining like a puppy and I will take it.” Asher climbed into the driver’s seat.

HUNJI: A Broken Wolf & the last witch of Andora - Book 4

HUNJI: A Broken Wolf & the last witch of Andora - Book 4

His mouth formed an ‘O’ as he processed the information. “But it’s nothing like holding a book in your hand and getting lost in an adventure or romance novel.” I joked. “Oh, I have a few books if you want to pick some out and take them with you. For the journey.” “Really? That would be great!” I clapped my hands together in excitement about what new tales I could delve into. I ended up picking out three books. One was about a treasure hunt, the second was a collection of romance stories from around the realm based on Alpha’s finding their mates, and the third was based on historical figures and their relationships to their gods.

Yes, an excellent read, full of intrigue and drama, love and torment. All four of this series have been worth waiting for. Just one complaint: where are the next two books on Goodbooks? Do I need to look elsewhere? I hate leaving a story mid way, and need to know how it all finishes.

I really enjoyed this series. Many books on this platform have similar stories, which gets boring really fast. This book series kept me entertained the whole time. It had the perfect balance of romance and action. I enjoyed getting to know each character in more detail as each book was added.

Frequently Asked Questions

During Halloween, I get super excited to dive into some spine-chilling reads! One book that stands out is 'The Raven's Tale' by Cat Winters. It’s such a captivating take on the life of Edgar Allan Poe, filled with dark romance and eerie vibes. Winters really brings Poe's world to life in a way that's both beautiful and haunting. Plus, the themes of loss and inspiration resonate deep within, and it feels perfect for a chilly October night.

Then there's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' by Ray Bradbury. It’s a classic! Set in a small town, the arrival of a mysterious carnival stirs up a whirlwind of fear and curiosity. Bradbury's vibrant prose pulls you right into this eerie tale, exploring the fears of youth and the resilience needed to face them. I remember getting lost in its atmosphere, and the unsettling chills gave me that perfect Halloween vibe.

Lastly, I've got to mention 'Eliza and Her Monsters' by Francesca Zappia. While it isn't purely Halloween-themed, its exploration of anxiety and the duality of life versus online persona make it striking. The protagonist's hidden webcomic world is filled with complex characters and relatable struggles; it’s perfect for young adults navigating their own identities. Engaging in darker themes while celebrating creativity is a beautiful balance to explore around Halloween!

On this spooky holiday, these reads are sure to add a thrilling layer to your festivities. Each book blends elements of creepiness, personal growth, and mystery in ways that will resonate with readers who enjoy that chill of Halloween.
