“Hero,” Mr. Yamamoto’s voice was cold, each word deliberate. “I trust you’re aware of the expectations placed on you regarding my daughter.”
Hero clenched his jaw, his fingers tightening around the phone. “Yes, sir. I’m aware.”
“It’s time to stop these distractions, Hero,” Mr. Yamamoto continued, his voice unyielding. “Anne has informed me that your focus has been elsewhere. Remember, this arrangement isn’t a suggestion. It’s your duty to uphold your family’s commitments.”
