Ace
Gabby asked but by the tightness of Ace's posture, I knew accepting was out of the question.
Ace completely ignored her question, draping an arm around the back of my chair and saying, "There's no need to be so polite, Gabby. Miranda knows what I do and I'm here on business."
"Oh," Gabby's face paled as she sat down opposite us.
I didn't know what to say so I simply sat and observed.
"Did you do it?" Ace asked after a moment of awkward silence.
"I can't. Who do you think they're going to look at first? I'm the wife with military training and motive to end his pathetic life," Gabby's voice dropped to a whisper so her son wouldn't hear her but her words were harsh.
