I. CHOOSE. YOU (A Nigerian coming of age Novel)

I. CHOOSE. YOU (A Nigerian coming of age Novel)

Once again I thank the Lord for blessing me with the pigment melanin. (Iyawo- means new wife in Yoruba a Nigerian language) "Mommy stop teasing her na" Dili joked with a mild laugh. I have seen playful and cheerful Dili a lot. But this Dili right here looked more cheerful than I have ever seen him. It did something to that my organ that pumps blood round my body. Yes I was talking about my heart.

The Book of Mara

The Book of Mara

"Who the yeisha do you think you are, wisira? You really think your tiny afrima and small chest is going to inspire lust from anyone better than me?" Yeisha was something akin to hell; I translated easy enough when I thought on the word itself. Afrima was easy, I almost didn't even have to focus on that word. He was talking about my backside. I stepped forward and planted my hands on my hips, looking the man straight in his brown eyes. "I am not whatever that word is that you called me. Nor is she! And even a sanshas would be preferable to a… Draygon like you," I growled at him.

MAY

MAY

Maryam, still on her school uniform, tugged on May's sweater as they passed a bookstore. "What is it now?" May asked. "Buy me that book." Maryam pointed at the yellow book sitting on the shelf just outside the bookstore. "Why?" May queried. "Isn't that Half of a Yellow Sun written by Chimamanda Adichie?" Iby asked. "I want it," Maryam whined. "Mtcheww. Leave me oh. I’m here to only buy oranges." May said, walking towards where the oranges were sold. Maryam began crying. Iby turned to her. "Are you seriously crying because you want your mom to buy you a book?"

The Dream Elixir
This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed it so very much. It made me feel so many things and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the while because I really wanted the best for May. I felt so much anger towards Edric, uncertainty towards Tega, and love for Edric. definitely insightful
Sinikiem precious
Nice book. I love how it treats domestic issues prevalent in a lot of Nigerian homes. I also love how the book doesn't glamorize abuse like other pics I've read in this genre. Seeing as the author is a girl from Bayelsa, it gives me joy that she adds elements of her background in the story.

Good Things Fall Apart

Good Things Fall Apart

"Lukas, he's in our class." "No, I mean the girl." "That was Sasha Braun and she's weird," Arya answered him. He frowned. "How is she weird?" "Dude, that Sasha doesn't talk at all. It's been too long since anyone heard her voice." Hades then shrugged and bit into his apple. "Trust us, after she screws up with the volleyball coach, she became like that," Arya stated. "They said, she was pregnant and got an abortion." "Hell yeah!" Hades agreed.

The Slave Queen

The Slave Queen

Then he instructed the people saying: "The common man will have only one wife. Only a chief may have four or more wives. For this reason, you Hausa shall be brave because you come from wolves," said Q'waeti. "In every manner, you shall be strong." I close the book " What a rubbish and joke " I said and pull out a different book. It is red and the ink is thick and blue. "The Child Eater" is the title. I lean against the bookshelf and open it up. Here lived once a big woman named Dask'iya. She was an evil woman who stole innocent children from their loving families and takes them to Yaq'ilis Creek (Dry River in Barbarian country). She gathers the children together by the
