Loki and Thore were gazing at me ridiculously. “What’s wrong? Isn’t it cool?” I frowned. I wear a light yellow T-shirt and denim pants. It’s wash day so we can appear at school without wearing the uniform. “Seriously? Since when did you like yellow? You want gray, black, white, navy blue and such. But yellow?” Loki could not help but burst into a loud laughter.

Always had—rebellion swarm in his blood. He was tall, a wolf-like Sabin, but that was where the similarities ended. While Sabin had brown hair, brown eyes, and a roughly hewn face, Gideon was pure punk, embracing the modern Goth look, throwing in a bit of grunge and mixing it all with movie-stars flair. The man even coloured his pale hair bright, metallic blue. Said he'd done it because it made his eyes pop. Of course, that was a lie. He'd probably crafted the look as a warning to humans—approach at your peril.

Daiji continued, introducing the pair of Kitsune flanking them with a jerk of his head in each of their directions. “Tsk, tsk, tsk, girl. Get any angrier and you’ll be as crimson as my nails,” Navin spoke…and wiggled her fucking fingers in my face. “I got them done just before we left to come here. I wanted yellow, but I figured Soaré would be wearing the color.”

Again. There were bright yellow shades levitating above her head, a dim of red and grey. And for some unknown reason, as crazy as that may sound, I thought I could actually…explain what the colors meant. Bright yellow for nature. Grey, dark and pigmented. Jealousy. And the red, a little touch of anger.

She seemed bothered by my question. “You’re unfriendly,” I explained to her as I stared at her. I wanted to ask if she was sick or something, although the color of her eyes did not really bother me much. It was like staring at an optical illusion, a hypnotic circle that you could not just stay away from. Izobel has golden yellow eyes, one of the rarest, and usually, the color symbolizes happiness and optimism, but why does she hide them? “Why are your eyes golden yellow?” I asked when she didn’t talk again.

I add. “What does this glow look like?” Rye asked. “Devon and Nate glow a bright iridescent silvery colour. Kaleb glows a bright darker blue colour and Reece glows a bright darker green colour. I also notice a darker blue halo around Kyalni and a darker green halo around Mykenzie. The halo seems to follow them. Nymyra also has a bright silver glow to her.” I answer. No one says anything, and I have a feeling they think I am crazy. I see Rye look at Chris, and I can tell they are communicating without words. None of the three women seemed to be phased by this. It’s like they already know.

The psychopathic lord wailed, blinking eccentrically as his vision slowly rose from the darkness. The lord of hell gritted his teeth as a deep and throbbing pain exploded from behind his eyes, a strange oily green splitting across his vision; along with a sickly yellow; the colours causing his gut to churn in disgust. What the fuck was this? He growled within his mind, continuing to blink at a rapid pace as he shook his head. Attempting to push away the sickly unnatural colours. Darkous gasped lightly when they began to fade, slowly soaking into the metal implants that his father had forced upon him.

Both of their dressers are white with little yellow sunflowers, and in fact even the old bollywood movie posters on Vahini’s side of the wall are color-coded in yellow. The room smells like spicy food and incense; the blend of bright yellow and sharp scents always managing to give me a headache if I focus too much on it. Like Annabelle Rooney had put it once; the room is a goth’s hell and a xanthophiliac’s heaven. The only differences between the two sides of their dorm are the ginormous crystals and tarot cards on Vahini’s dresser, her colorful saris placed on hanged display, and her wide red Persian rug. "But I wouldn't mind knowing though." She crossed her arms to her chest. "What sort of colorblindness do you have?" "Tritanopia. I can't see the color yellow." Lily bobbed her head in understanding. "Yellow is a really pretty color." "Describe yellow." "Hmm..." She rubbed her chin, pursing her soft pink lips in thought. "If I describe yellow as an emotion, then it would be happiness."
