I don't know what was happening but I felt my senses blurry and vision hazy. Mom and Gabriel led me out of the cottage as I continued hearing the old woman mutter things about evil, darkness, light, death, life, mystery, key, kiss of the shadow. Everything was a daze to me now. Before I know it, I throw up while mom pats my back lightly shushing me. I don't know what was happening to me but I wasn't okay at all. We made it to the car where Gabriel drove us away. The journey was hushed and I was grateful that no one asked me anything because I was in no mood to answer anyone. Placing her other books on the floor, Layla pulled the leather-bound book from its home amongst the others and opened it. As her eyes skimmed the pages, she caught a couple of words; SHADOW STALKERS, BLOODSUCKER, PHANTOMS.

That was until I opened the book that was on the table and the whiff of something metallic hit me like a freight train. It wasn’t fresh, but it was unmistakable. Blood. I opened the first page and let out a shaky breath of shock for what had to be the tenth time since I had been in this room. “This is the diary of Amanda Crossfield. Should you come across this book while I am deceased, please read it. The dead have nothing to fear. If I am still alive, proceed no further. I will flay your skin in the open sun and coat your exposed insides with honey.”
