ARES The city of Lunaris sprawled beneath me, a tapestry of light and shadow that shifted with every flicker of the blood moon. From the rooftop of the Crimson Fang Tower, I watched. Always. Even when I was not present in the halls, in the classrooms, or in the dormitories, I could feel her, Zorya. Her scent carried over the city like a beacon: fierce, wild, unclaimed. Every step she took stirred the threads of the bond. Every breath she drew sent my wolf howling beneath my skin.

The moon came out from behind the clouds and at the corner of my eyes was the beast. Before it disappeared, I realised to my horror that it looked somewhat like a wolf, but with long shaggy hair and a huge head. A half wolf-half abomination. I didn't realise I was screaming when a growl sounded from behind me and before I could turn, I was snatched from the tree. A sharp pain ran through my body. He holds an old parchment in his hands. “You see, there were two powerful beings walking this earth since the dawn of time. They once lived like humans, but somehow manifested inhumane powers. According to this scroll, they are described as two Moon Beasts. One was out to cause destruction… while the other sought to continue his bloodline. Seeking a mate.” He sets the scroll down and picks another. “Later, he’s described as the Beast of the Moon—The Alpha King. While the other became the Beast of Destruction—The Megetsune.”

Without thinking about how much it would hurt his ego, I kept my eyes on the beasts that were coming at me fiercely and howled for help into the air. My fist smashed into a beast's face as I had quickly shifted to my human form. The beast cried in pain as blood rushed from its nose. Another beast rushed at me attacking my wolf. I believed he hadn't expected me to shift so fast and was stunned when I sunk my sharp fangs into its neck before detaching the spine I had clamped over.

Rain continues to hunt for answers to her curiosity, making it seem like she's found an exceptional new toy. "These are the black bones of beings of darkness with over-mystical powers. I have some bones as this, and I keep them in churches and other secret places." "But you said it was a human bone!" Jace sighed.
