Silence descended upon them as they looked at my photo and urn. Gary said grimly, "Holly called me this afternoon and told me she was going to die. She wanted us to have one last meal with her."

She looked at Melia noticing herself apparently angry and wanting to do something to get even.

Samantha thanked him numbly and then opened the box with all the things I had left behind. Anthony exited his room with a yawn. He looked at the box with disdain. “Aiden’s been dead for three years. What’s the point of bringing his things here now? This is unlucky stuff. You should throw it all away.” Samantha ignored Anthony. She reached into the box and took out three brand new pairs of gloves made of sheep’s wool. There were also several boxes of expired hand cream. There was even a sticky note with handwritten instructions. Samantha sobbed at the sight of it.

Lady Wilma became a little too emotional and climbed off the bus after her son. I kept my eyes peeled while Nathan and Lydia talked about the rest of the supplies, discussing how much farther the shelter was. But my attention remained fixed on the last shelf. The moment Welsh and Lady Wilma entered the mall, I watched the zombies stop feeding on the dead bodies and slowly turn their heads toward them. Then they rose to their feet. My heart pounded as I watched the zombies, while Lady Wilma and Welsh unknowingly walked straight toward the last shelf.

The countdown ticked down, and I could feel my anxiety building. 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Then— the ground underneath the flags began terrible. The ground broke open, and three figures emerged. I froze on the spot, my blood running cold instantly. There were three Zombies. One was a sword-wearing hunk with piercing blue eyes. The second was a ripped boxer with a menacing scowl. And the third... oh god, it was a fox woman with piercing green eyes and a sly grin. The sword master spoke, his voice like honey. "Ah, fresh meat."

She brought out the vial of the vaccine and held it in her hand. "I'm sorry, it's either I kill you or my boyfriend dies" she drank up the vaccine. Mr. Wong's face had turned sour. It seemed what he heard from Grace had become believable. "Then if you will kill me, at least close the door" he said confidently and rolled up his sleeves. Grace went to close the door. Mr. Wong didn't know what had come for him. He wouldn't have been so confident. Grace walked back to the table. She had changed to her zombie form.

Late that night, I was roused by the loud revving of a car's engine. I peeked out of the curtains to see a car running over zombies as it sped forward before stopping outside a villa at the end of the road. A woman covered from head to toe got out of the car with a baby in her arms. She ran to the villa, but zombies intercepted her and tore them to shreds. I could vaguely hear the baby's cries, but when the zombies dispersed, all that was left was a pool of blood.

Choosing not to rebel would only bind her to a contract, and choosing to rebel so openly would make the system seek out ways to make her vanish. “I can’t die… not now,” Willa muttered. “Option three,” Willa said, and the host’s eyes flickered with mischief. “Are you sure? Once the first two options are swiped away… you can’t get them back.” Willa stared at the words before her. She was no idiot; she knew a hole when she saw one. “Option three,” she repeated, and so the system obliged. [Option Three: Pick three new door changes and rest.]
