Zoey looked at the building beside her and breathed deeply. "We need to meet the boss first before we go to the apartment." she said and went in with Carissa trailing behind her. The first zombie broke through the defenses, its rotting fingers grabbing the edge of the deck as it climbed up! "Ah!" Screams erupted instantly. The zombie was bloated. Its eyes hung on its cheeks as it lunged straight at me. "Clarissa!" Hans yelled, immediately raising his gun and aiming at the zombie in front of me. The next second, he was immediately drawn to Winnie's scream. "Hans! I'm scared!" He hesitated for a second before immediately turning his gun toward the zombies near Winnie. My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach.

The zombie, which hadn’t yet had time to form a Crystal Core, toppled under the car. Unsure if they heard the commotion or smelled fresh humans, several zombies inside the villa lunged madly toward the windows, their bloody claws scrabbling at the glass. If one ignored the gory streaks of blood on the glass, from a distance they almost looked like a group of overly enthusiastic neighbors popping over to say hello. In a small room on the side of the third floor, Drew Dunn stood on his tiptoes, straining to see the main gate, craning his neck so far it felt like it might snap.

His movements were fluid, calculated, but the number of infected kept multiplying. “Ethan, we need to move!” I yelled, my voice rising above the chaos, but he was already fighting, taking care of the zombies that came too close. But then it happened. The one thing we hadn’t accounted for. A zombie lunged at him from behind, and before he could react, its teeth sank into his shoulder. “No!” I screamed, my heart lurching as I watched him falter. Blood began to pour from the wound, and I could see the strain on his face, the shock that hit him as the infection began to take hold.

Grace dipped her hand into her pocket and brought out a vial. It had been long since Raymond saw one of these. Grace ingested it. The next part was not what he always liked. He looked away. Grace would transform into a zombie with a lot of pains. "Three minutes" the man said over the megaphone again. It seemed he was getting impatient.

These zombies moved with purpose, their movements swift and coordinated. Seeing it, Ying Wei’s heart pounded in his chest as he floored the gas pedal, the van lurching forward with a burst of speed. Since His Young master said that they will not stopped, they wouldn’t stop. They only need to escape this zombies. The van barreled toward the horde, and they braced themselves as the first zombie leaped onto the hood, its clawed hands scraping against the windshield. Claire fired her shotgun through the open window, blasting the creature off the vehicle, but more were coming—too many to fight off.

Tears spilled down in heavy drops. Quinton's knees gave out. He dropped straight down onto the ground. "No way… It wasn't me. How could it be me?" A heavy, suffocating grief swallowed the whole room. It pressed on everyone's chest, making it hard to breathe. Then, from the side where she had been silently standing, Madeline finally stepped forward. Her voice carried just the right amount of confusion as she asked, "But why did the zombie outbreak happen right when it was my birthday?"

It was like she was not Zara. I looked at the buffalo that she killed. It looked dreadfully dead. "Well, no shit Sherlock," August, my wolf glared.
