Kyle's voice surprised me. I grinned fiercely. "Yes. Just a spam call." He didn't quite buy it but let it pass, turning to wave at another lion just materializing. We moved on to other displays, zebras, giraffes, monkeys. Sophia and Kyle went on teasing, their laughter echoing down the path. Damien followed but in silence. When some monkeys started squealing and squabbling over food, Sophia laughed so hard she almost doubled over. Kyle followed, mocking sounds. I shot a glance at Damien, trying to elicit even a smile from him. Instead, he growled, "They're just animals," and turned away.

I hug him. "I can't believe it either. I'm happy though. So, don't think any different." "Mama" I hear a small voice come up behind us. I let go of Will and kneel down to her height. "Hey, baby. Did you have a good time at the zoo today?" Alyssa hugs me. "I wish you could have been there mama. We saw lions. Tigers. A big monkey. Daddy let me ride a pony too." "That sounds like a great time, baby. I will go next time, I promise."

I lamented. "Baby, look over there. They have a monkey-themed ride. It's cute and safe. How about we try that instead?" Colin suggested, trying to lift my spirits. He pointed to a ride at the entrance, where the line was shorter. The so-called monkey-themed ride was essentially a circular controller with radial arms supporting small carts, each with a little monkey figurine in a red jacket pulling it. When the switch was turned on, the monkeys would bounce in unison, as if pulling the carts, while a saccharine tune, "The World's Greatest Mother," played.

I worry they might wander off, especially since they’re naturally curious and fond of exploring every nook and cranny. With Sebastian firmly holding onto Carter’s hand, I feel reassured. Everything is under control, and I’m confident we won’t encounter any mishaps. Our first destination, naturally, is the monkey exhibit. As we approach, I can see Carter’s eyes widen in wonder and delight. The monkeys are lively, carrying on with their hoots and hollers, swinging from branches, and interacting with each other in their playful, animated manner. Cassandra’s Pov “Oh look at that one,” Laura gushed. “It’s just a baby.” She was pointing to one of the smaller monkeys in the enclosed area. “It’s pretty cute,” Jordyn said, sidling up beside her in a mock attempt to ‘get a better look.’ When Dillon asked me to go on a date with him to the zoo, this wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. He’d blindsided me with a double date: Dillon and me, Jordyn and Laura. They’d been waiting for us at the ticket booth.

She got her answer when a loud booming scream was heard, and that was how she knew Dune had given her the middle finger. She turned around and waited. Her eyes scan the entrance of the cave. Long and dirty claws came out, then two horns, red cheeks, and a massive body the size of a boulder. It was the biggest monkey she has ever seen. It was covered in fur except for its chest with its lower teeth uneven but large. Its right eye was totally white and drool dripped out of its mouth. Their eyes met, and it felt like she was looking at a monster for the first time. It screamed... this time enough to blow hot foul breath and began to high-tailed directly on her.

No doubt her hair would be pulled up before noon. I took a drink of my water bottle and pulled out some pineapple to munch on while we made the 2-hour trek to our destination. “Aaah!” I scream when a little spider monkey jumps in my lap and swipes the pineapple I am about to put in my mouth and is gone in the next instant. “Did you see that?! Holy crap! That little thief.” I exclaim. Damien and Bren are rolling with laughter. “You should have seen your face!” Damien howls.

In a split second with the whistle of the man, the bird was able to fly and shift positions from the other man's shoulder to Finn's own arm. In the back of her head, a part of her couldn't help but question, 'Just how can this monkey fight so well without dropping his bottle of booze?!
