"Is that a tracking tag? Are you going to put us in a zoo?"
"No zoos, child," Nyosi said, taking one of the collars. "A zoo is for animals we want to look at. You? You are far too useful for that."
She leaned forward and clicked the collar around the girl’s neck. It adjusted itself, the segments tightening until they were flush against her skin.
Beep.
The girl let out a choked gasp, her hands flying to her throat. The silver shimmer in her hair died instantly, turning to a dull, matted grey.
