Her reason for despising Knox was reasonable, he and his people had taken everything away from them, from her. In the heat of the moment, a loud knock echoed through the room, diverting both their gazes. Noticing how distracted Knox was by the sound, Zena seized the opportunity to act swiftly. A sharp jab of her elbow to his side caused another wave of pain that reflected on Knox's features, giving her the chance to break free as she moved to a corner of the room.

His presence was suffocating, and every instinct in Karina screamed at her to run, to get away, but her feet were rooted to the spot. The man’s grin widened, his eyes gleaming in the darkness. "I’m the one who is going to take Zorana for myself. And you—" He stepped closer, his eyes scanning her as if she were nothing more than a pawn in a game he had already won. "You’re the one who’s going to help me." Karina’s breath caught in her throat. "What do you mean? What are you talking about?"

There is an energy around us now that wasn't there before, and I like it. "Such big smiles for fragile people. What has changed," Zor asks bitterly, and I realize I forgot to trade with Zuri. "Nothing has changed, Zor. Are you not happy to be getting closer to knowing who your mate will be," I ask while looking at her perfect face? She rolls her big eyes and clicks her tongue.

Quickly, she put on her long robe, turned around, and stared at Darryl with a cold gaze. Feeling Robin's gaze, Darryl felt as though he was being targeted by a beast and he could not help but inhale deeply. Then, Darryl chuckled and said, "Chief, I think it's time you let me go." "Go?" Robin sounded cold. "You're not leaving today." Then, she stretched out her hand, about to pull out the long saber by her side. However, she had just had acupuncture treatment, and she could only move slowly.

Working for the Alpha was hardly conducive to romance, and I wondered if I'd ever find someone who could put up with my sharp tongue and independent streak… anybody except Rohan or Helios.
