Naomi’s POV

I rubbed my temples as I felt a headache start to creep in. The sound of my boots on the floor was one of the things I was grateful for as they grounded me back to reality. I felt exhaustion creep into my bones, and I sighed softly.

That smell of fire and sulphur and danger still lingered in the air and I instinctively scrunched my nose at the smell of the smoke. Heavy and thick smoke still rose from the chaos and the buildings which those attackers had burnt down to the ground.

At least, the numbers of warriors that were carrying to dispose dead bodies and trying to restore properties had reduced significantly and although I wasn't so happy that there were dead people, I was glad that they were slightly less destruction around now.

Marcus is silent beside me, his face tight and his jaw locked. He didn’t speak more after he had assures me a little earlier. Marcus, too much emotional bonding wasn’t for him. I can hear the voice in his head that was telling him to detach

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 112: DOUBT

NAOMI'S POV My eyes flashed open, waking up to my mom's voice. “Darling, I didn't know when you got home from the hospital," she said. Even as I closed my eyes, I could sense her moving around to tidy up the mess I had made yesterday when taking my clothes off. If my eyes were open, I would have rolled them. Mom was always trying to get everything tidy and neat, polar opposite of Dad and I. “Mom" I groaned out loud. She didn't make any reply, continuing with her fussing around. Finally I opened my eyes. Mom had opened my curtains so the bright morning sun had flooded my room. I almost shut my eyes again but I didn't. I had to be awake. There was a day ahead. I sat up straight on my bed, my eyes darting to where mom had just finished cleaning up my table. She had picked the books up, the ones Marcus had given to me. That was why she had fallen silent, suddenly frozen when she read the titles. I stood up quickly, rushing to her and snatching the book away. This wasn't part

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 111: FOOTSTEPS

NAOMI'S POV He opened the door for me and we both slid out of the car. He led me to the door, taking a key out and opening it. The house was quiet, mom and dad were already sleeping it seemed so they didn't know everything that had happened today. We walked silently to my room and were soon inside. I felt my bones screaming for me to fall on the bed, my body feeling the temporary tiredness. I refused to do so, so I went to bathe instead. Taking a cool shower helped my headache drop, it was still there but not as bad. When I came out, Marcus sat on the couch in the room, he watched me as I went into my closet to change. By the time I came out I noticed the difference. “Where is Logan?" Marcus shrugged, he didn't know. We had been home for at least twenty minutes, he should have been right behind us, unless something happened. My heart began to race, I was only hoping it was nothing. With everything that had happened, I wasn't sure anymore what this person who was attacking

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 110: DEAD

WRITER'S POVThe call came on Logan's phone, he saw it was coming from the wolf he had sent with two other men. Andrew. He knew they were efficient so it was definitely a call that they had found her. He picked it up and said almost immediately, “Bring her here" Andrew cleared his throat, he was nervous to make a reply. “She's dead, Alpha" he finally said. Logan shot up, back straight. “I told you to keep her alive" Andrew shook his head on the other end, “We found her dead" Logan froze, that wasn't on the list. He had expected she might have tried to run, anything other than that. "Check your messages alpha, I sent a picture” Andrew told him. Logan took the phone off his ear and switched to messenger app, he saw the two attachments Andrew had sent. He opened them immediately. The sight was sore, she was clearly dead. There were two pictures from two different sides of her body strewn over the bathroom floor. He could see it, she hadn't died today and contrary to his thoug

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 109: ROTTING

NAOMI'S POVI sat up straight in alarm. His voice, it sounded heavy. I already knew now, it was bad news. It had to be. “What?" I asked, my heart racing with different scenarios but the most likely one. “It's the same thing. The venom, the confirmed it." His voice was grave as he said it. It almost didn't shock me but still I felt sadness slam into me. “Is she going to die?" I asked as my heart slammed into my ribcage. I looked at Layla who lay on the bed. Her breathing steady, unconscious and unaware. I couldn't live without her. I couldn't imagine it. Marcus didn't Answer immediately. “I’ve asked my witches to check. There's not too much in her so I don't know” I leaned back in the chair, my heart thudding and my eyes watering. Layla, the memories we shared. The advice she gave me. My comfort. I felt a hand on my back, I didn't look to see who it was. The hand rubbed me and then a voice, "she won't die” it was Logan. He knelt to face me, my face on the same level with his.

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 108: THE NURSE III

NAOMI'S POVThis meant two things really: either one could be true. One of the guards had alerted her or someone who had access to the cameras and was spying on Layla and Elias. The headache in my head lessened when I had gotten one fact clear. The only thing left was to find out who had done it. I rewatched the footage, this time staying on the guards at the corridor, they would be the only ones who'd see Elias go in or out. They were all at attention, undivided and ready for danger. I only saw the alertness. None of them made any moves to use their phones or took a break from their positions. If they hadn't contacted anybody within that time, that meant it was left to the ones who had access to the camera. When Logan came back in I would ask him who those people were. The guarantee of finding the truth that way was almost next to impossible. If one of them had actually done something, they wouldn't admit it. That is until Marcus comes in. He had his ways, I had an idea what

  • Bound with Shadows    CHAPTER 107: THE NURSE II

NAOMI'S POVAfter Marcus left, I was alone again with my thoughts, trying to remember what I had watched, if there had been anything I had been missing. The more I thought, the more details I seemed to be missing. It's like my brain forgot the more I tried to bring the memories back. The only strange thing I had remembered was the nurse, although now it wasn't so strange. Hourly check ups were done for critically injured patients. Other than that, no one else had gone in or out, not even in the corridor. It had been a private floor, so it wasn't like patients could move around easily. Still, lacking the evidence I still believed it, it hadn't been normal and if Marcus was right it would be the venom that had killed the wolves. I wasn't too eager to find out. Whoever it was, behind this. He had made such an elaborate plan that I had no idea what would be next. What could he be planning to do next? I wondered when the door opened. I looked to see it was Logan, it had been about
