Chapter 14

Hot tears streamed down her eyes as she sat on the bare floor, her back against the tree as the wild creatures inched towards her. Her life began flashing in front of her, and when she thought her moment of death had arrived, she suddenly heard a voice:

“Zach, Zeus.” Her head flung to the side to see the masculine figure approaching them, and she could swear that she never thought she would be glad to see him all her life.

She smiled in relief to see Leone. The wolves quickly ran to him at the mention of their names, wagging their tails like they were puppies.

Of course they could relate to each other—they were all evil.

He passed her a glare, and she watched him crouch down to pet the wolves. “That’s not your food,” he scolded. “You know we only eat quality things.” He patted the wolf’s head.

Her face twisted in displeasure at his words, and as much as her mouth itched to utter words of disapproval, she had to remind it that if she pushed this man’s buttons, she might not have a mouth.

“Thank you.” Her heart still raced as she stared at him. If it weren’t for him, she’d be in the digestive tract of those wild animals.

Thankfully, he sent them away, and she quickly sprang to her feet. Leone stared back at her, this time his eyes as cold as the wind that bit through her skin.

His lips pressed into a firm line. The look on his face instantly made her remember when he had talked about using her as manure for his orchard tree.

She gulped as he took a step towards her, and Anna instinctively took one step backward to maintain a good distance from him. Yes, he had saved her from his wolves, but who was going to save her from him now? He was worse than those wolves who had bared their fangs at her. He was the apex predator.

Seems like he didn’t want to maintain a distance between them, as he instantly took another step forward, closing up the distance.

Anna found herself taking multiple steps backward, and she gasped sharply once her back collided with the bark of a tree.

He took another step forward, invading her personal space, crossing the boundaries—like he always did. His large frame loomed over her, covering her completely.

His expensive cologne washed through her like a rippling wave, his scent intoxicating—too alluring. His minty breath fell over her face.

Now looking at his gray eyes, she saw how mythical they looked up close. At the same time, it felt like an endless dark abyss.

She raised her hand to his hard, sturdy chest—a flimsy attempt to push him away from her. But who was she kidding? It felt like trying to push a mountain.

Her breath hitched when he suddenly grabbed both of her hands with one of his and then pinned them above her head.

Her breaths became labored as she tried to break free from his hold, but it felt like her wrists were held up by chains. She couldn’t move them.

His eyes mirrored hers, and then his hand flew to her chin, his grip gentle yet firm. His thumb caressed her lips, making her shudder, and to worsen things, she recalled the time he had seen her naked in his tub.

Even now, the clothes she wore barely protected her from his gaze. Due to the fright-or-flight situation the wolves had put her in, she had been completely absentminded about her clothes, and now the thin strap of her top had slid down, exposing the corner of her breast. Perhaps using her as manure for his tree wasn’t such a horrible option now.

Her eyes, which had been darting around, flew back to him when his thumb began caressing her wrist sensually. Her insides twisted at the foreign contact.

He leaned further, his breath fanning her collarbone, making her want to curl her toes. “Tell me, Anna,” he drawled, his voice deep—like a looming storm. “Why are you so hell-bent on testing my restraint?”

Anna had no idea what he was talking about. His massive strength terrified her, and now all she wanted was to get as far away from him as possible. But his grip on her was too firm to even move a muscle. Like always, he had her where he wanted her.

What could she tell him? That she had been curious to see if there was another exit out of this empire? That she wanted to see if she could escape from the clan?

She gulped saliva down her parched throat. “I was just curious,” she bit her lips after the words flew out of her mouth.

Did he remember that she was the girl whom his brother would marry? The way he held her made her doubt he did.

“Let me go,” she breathed. But what she didn’t know was that the man standing in front of her hated being told what to and not to do. She saw his eyes darken dangerously, and she wished she could take her words back.

His hand flew to her slender neck, his thumb caressing the skin above her pulse. The very thought of him snapping her neck made her blood cold. She was sure it would be an easy task for him. She desperately wanted to tell him to stop, to plead—even if that was what it took for her to be free from his grasp. But something instinctively warned her to clamp her mouth shut.

Her heart drummed in her ears as his finger trailed from her neck slowly, down to the top of her breast. “And why should I do that, Anna?” he replied to her earlier question. “Each time I do that, you always end up doing something even more irksome than the last.”

She saw his jaw clench, and part of her dreaded the fact that it might be true—recalling their first encounter till now. Oh no.

His hand played at the spot above her breast. He leaned in, his voice falling at the shell of her ear. “I’m afraid this time around, you must be punished.”

Chapter 29Her brows knotted as the ray of sun came to fall on her face. Her eyes flew open, and her hand flew to cover her eyes from the sun. She slowly sat up on the bed, her eyes taking in her surroundings. She was in her room—on her bed.Was everything that happened a dream? Oh, she wished it was, but the shirt which she was wearing now told her otherwise. A black T-shirt which looked more like a gown on her body, and it was heavy with his scent, his cologne. What had she done? How could she let everything happen when she knew too well how things were at the moment? She liked Rocco. What was she saying? She loved him, with all her heart. So why? Why could she do that? This was wrong. If they found out—Domenico and the Don—they might have her killed or worse. How could she be so careless? She felt this guilt weigh on her heart. She shouldn’t have gone to his mansion, she shouldn’t have been worried about him. Then all of this could’ve been avoided.Anna ran her hand through he

Chapter 28Anna’s eyes flew wide in shock. It felt like time paused at that moment as she watched him rip her nightie off with his manly strength. He covered her completely. She felt so small underneath him, underneath those wild gray orbs. He was the only thing she could see, feel, and even smell. His cologne wrapped her completely as she stared in a daze.Yes, it was all her fault. She told him to back off, but she had come here on her own. She hadn’t thought things through. She had been worried after seeing his wound, but she hadn’t foreseen the outcome. She hadn’t seen this coming at all.She saw a great amount of hunger in those orbs, and it felt like she had willingly sacrificed herself to him.His eyes latched on her now-exposed breasts, and she raised her trembling hands to his shoulder—a flimsy attempt to push him away—but it all ended with both her hands being pinned above her head. His nose trailed down the valley of her breasts. His warm breath made her toes curl. No, this

Chapter 27Anna stood at her balcony, a glass of juice in her hand, which she drank from. The wind blew her hair, making it fall on her face, but she slowly tucked it behind her ear.Chiara had retired to her room for the night, giving her enough space for the words she had said to sink in. She had seen him that night, the way he had leisurely said it like it had nothing to do with her. Her heart raced, her cheeks burned. Anna gulped down the remaining content in the glass as her mind recalled the night of the Omerta ball.Acting crazy was his thing, but that night, it had been entirely different. He had been… possessive, like he owned her—owned her body. He had been raspy, like he had lost all patience with her. She hadn’t been aware of what she did, what warranted such behavior from him—well, aside from witnessing him committing an all-out murder, showing up in his tub naked, and trespassing that night when she should have been asleep—but her guts told her it wasn’t because of tha

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 26: Back Off

Chapter 26Anna sat on her sofa in her room while Chiara helped her undo her hair. Despite the fact she was currently in her room, she could still hear Leone’s voice, who stood right outside her room talking to the now recuperated butler. She felt anxious, exhausted, and overwhelmed by how the night had unfolded. Her head was in a mess, and it was all because of one person—Leone Vicenzo. She had fully convinced herself that his number one motive was to make her lose her mind—and watch it happen. “All done, ma’am,” Chiara said, and it was then she noticed her hair had been unclipped and it fell down her back. “Should I proceed with helping you take off the dress, ma’am?”Anna shook her head. “You can leave. Goodnight.”Chiara bowed politely and turned to leave, but even Anna easily noticed how scared she was to walk out the door—probably because the man who had been so hellbent on ending her life stood right outside. Her shoulders were stiff as her trembling hand held the doorknob.

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 25: Predator And The Prey

Chapter 25Her heart caught in her throat as she stared at him, his gaze feral, daring her to do what he said, like a predator just waiting to pounce on its prey. She felt this strange kind of heat coerce through every crook and cranny of her body, his hand on her slender waist warm, his grip firm. His one hand nearly circled the whole of her waist; that was just how small she was compared to him, the way he stared down at her, like she was a small little bird. Her toes curled, her heart beat so fast that she feared it might just burst through her chest. Earlier he had held her thigh, and she had thought he simply wanted to irk her, but that wasn’t the case right now.Right now, he seemed like a starved man, one who had lost all patience. Anna could do nothing but stare at him helplessly, his minty breath falling on her face.Leone didn’t need to lean in further to hear how her heart thudded in her ribcage. When he had fondled her thigh earlier in the car, he had loved watching her go

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 24: Say It Again

Leone’s control had slipped and smashed into unrecoverable bits when she created an unneeded distance between them. His eyes bored deeply into hers; they promised her no good, and she was smart enough to read them. Without another word, she got up and sat on the chair closest to him.Anna’s cheek was flushed, and she was at least glad that the lights on this side of the room were dim, making fewer people see her change seats.“You don’t own me, Leone,” she muttered, but loud enough for him to hear, and although she had simply said it for clarity, she was unaware that it had made something snap in him.Her eyes fell back on Maurizio, who had just concluded his speech, and numerous people stood up to have a handshake with him.A tall man in a red suit wordlessly came and sat at their table. His hair was blood red, his eyes black, his jaw sharp and firm. He was handsome too, just like Leone, but what was he doing here? Was he Leone’s cousin, perhaps?“Maurizio,” Leone called nonchalantly,
