“Soulmate.”

An almost inaudible sound escaped from the man’s mouth.

Irene couldn’t believe her ears and heart. How could he be her mate? How could she have a second mate? How could–

“Alpha, what should we do with her?” Irene wasn’t able to complete her thoughts as three large guards surrounded her, aiming to deal with her in a negative way.

Her pupils constricted.

‘No. It can’t be. He can’t be,’ she tried to convince herself that her ears heard the wrong thing. It was impossible for this man to be an alpha when she, herself, was already an omega.

It was impossible for an alpha to be mated to an omega. At least, that was what Irene believed till now.

The man lifted his hand and gestured for the guards to back up, his eyes never leaving Irene’s figure. His gaze on her was scrutinizing and hostile. Like he couldn’t be bothered about her existence but felt like he should be concerned about it.

“Get up,” he said, his voice smooth and deep.

“Huh?” Irene’s mouth fell open in confusion.

“Get up from the floor,” he said again.

Irene snapped back into her senses, realizing that she had made her chair for herself on the polished tiles.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” she lowered her gaze and got up to her feet, “I forgot.”

Then she wiped down the back of her dress and straightened the front in an attempt to appear neater. Everyone in the hall was watching this drama unfold in front of them with wide eyes.

‘Who is this girl? And why is she still alive?’ They were all thinking.

“Guards,” the man said, the people in reference perked up, eager for an order, “Take her upstairs and leave her in one of the rooms.”

“Alpha…?” One of the guards expressed his utter confusion on the behalf of himself and everyone else.

“Should I repeat myself?” The man’s eyes narrowed dangerously, inciting fear.

“N-No, Alpha,” the guard backed away, almost trembling. Then he exchanged looks with his colleagues.

Irene didn’t seem to understand what the exchange of looks meant, but soon came to as she was lifted off the floor by tight grips on her forearms, leaving her with no chance of escaping.

“Hey, hey, hey, hey. What are you doing? Let go of me!” Irene struggled, despite knowing it would be futile.

“Be quiet,” one of the guards said to her as the other two began to move.

“No! Wait! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to bump into you! Let me go! Please!” Irene began to yell as her heart palpitated intensely out of fear.

She was trying to beg the large man who unexpectedly turned out to be an alpha. But she couldn’t even catch a glimpse of him. Irene’s eyes searched for a way to free herself.

Surprisingly, her gaze landed on something, someone.

“Desmond!” Irene cried as the men carried her over a long, exquisite flight of stairs. “You have to help me! They’re taking me away! Help me!”

All of Irene’s cries fell on deaf ears as Desmond pretended not to hear her. His attention was fixed on the half-empty wine glass in front of him.

Irene sensed an odd chill enveloping her body when she reached the top of the stairs with the guards’ aid.

Desmond wasn’t going to help her. He told her that there was nothing between them anymore. She didn’t know anyone else here. There was no one to help her. She was doomed, done for, finished.

Irene gave up on struggling, reality setting deep in her head. The two men graced the floor with her feet when they got to a particular door. One of the men let go of her arm and opened the door.

“What are you guys going to– ugh!” Irene was shoved into the room mid-sentence. She turned around to complain about their aggressiveness but a door was slammed in her face.

Irene heard the guards locking the door with a key, then retreated in uniform footsteps.

‘This really can’t be happening,’ Irene thought as she rested her head against the door.

She came here to get Desmond back. Now, she had another mate and was probably about to be executed by said mate who turned out to be an alpha.

How could all of this be happening to her?

Irene sucked in a deep breath, then turned around. The room was dark. She searched around the walls for a switch before finding one and flicking the lights on.

The room was as empty as her brain. It only had two wooden chairs for sitting down. The walls and floor were painted gray, and there wasn’t even a window to be seen.

Irene almost believed that this was a torture room, but due to the lack of dried blood stains anywhere, she dismissed the thought.

She was already locked in here, she might as well deal with whatever was coming to her confidently. That was how Irene led herself to settle down on one of the chairs.

During this unknown amount of time that she had, Irene was going to try and use her brain. As long as her new alpha mate found out she was an omega, he would be inclined to get rid of her.

However, among the alphas of the nine packs in the Werewolf Territory, three were known to be nice. The alpha of Earth Pack was said to be an angel. The alpha of Venus Pack was not too bad. And the alpha of her pack, Pluto Pack, was very lax about a lot of things.

Irene suddenly slid down from her comfortable chair and knelt on the floor. She closed her eyes and pressed her palms together.

“Goddess, please. I beg of you. I know you never listen to my prayers, but hear me out this one time. Let that new mate of mine be the alpha of Earth Pack. Please, I beg. If he’s anyone else, then I’m fu–”

“What are you doing?” A deep voice interrupted Irene’s heartfelt prayer.

She opened one eye and saw her new mate standing at the door.

“Nothing!” Irene quickly said, rising up from the floor and dusting her kneecaps.

The man cocked his head one side, watching Irene with blatant inquiry. Only to shake his head a moment later, as if dismissing his curiosity about her. Then he walked into the room and gestured for Irene to sit down.

Irene nodded obediently and did as instructed. Previously, in his absence, the wooden chair had been comfortable. Now, it seemed like there were pins under Irene’s butt as she sat down.

Her mate didn’t seem to notice this newfound structure of the chair as he balanced well and crossed his legs, resting his back with ease.

“Irene, right?” The man said smoothly.

‘How does he know my name!?’ Irene panicked.

“We have to address the issue at hand.”

Okay, maybe not angry.More along the lines of displeased, irritated, annoyed. But why?“H-Hi…” Irene croaked, wanting to do nothing else but turn around and run back into her room.Just seeing Adam in the flesh reminded her of the Adam in her dream (nightmare) who had first hugged her, then grabbed her throat, and threw her away. She was now even more afraid of him than before after witnessing his might. Even though it was in a dream state.“What are you doing here?” Adam didn’t bother to hide the annoyance in his tone. For some reason, Irene felt guilty. Like she was the one who had annoyed him. But it was clear that she didn’t do anything and was innocently dreaming when he bulldozed into her dream and tried to kill her.If anyone was to be annoyed between the two of them, it should be her!Irene frowned at Adam’s question. “I’m here to get water.”Not even a second after she replied, Adam grabbed something from inside the fridge and launched it towards Irene. Reflexively, Irene ca

Their surroundings immediately changed. Irene and Adam were now in that small gray room where they first communicated.“What are you doing here–”The rest of her words got clogged in her throat as Adam grabbed her neck. Irene was raised from the floor by the strong grip around her neck.“This is all your fault.” Adam accused her with a hateful tone.Irene began to shake her head, tears gathering in her eyes.“Haah… I didn’t- I didn’t do anything! I swear!” She gasped for air as she defended herself.Adam made a pitiful expression on his features and she thought he was finally going to let her go. He did. But in the cruelest way.He flung her right across the room and she ended up landing on a rough surface. As Irene tried to get up, she realized that she was no longer in the small gray room. Now, she was in that clearing. The one by the border of Jupiter Pack. She recognized it with zero effort. Blood. On her hands. Blood. There was blood everywhere. The bodies of mutilated wolves wer

Worse than rogues? What could be worse than rogues??Rogues were the most vicious breeds of werewolf. No, they couldn’t even be classified as werewolves. They were mutated beasts that couldn’t think for themselves and could only wreak havoc and go rogue wherever they found themselves. They were the biggest nuisances to werewolves.Yet, these mysterious creatures were worse. How worse…?“Rogues don’t kill our kind to eat. They kill just for the sake of killing and the fact that they don’t know any better. But these creatures, we call them mutated rogues, seem to have intelligence.“They are aware of their actions. They kill for the sake of eating. Like they can’t eat anything other than werewolves, partially their own kind. That’s why this is a problem.“They’re drawn to us for food. They keep on finding a way to get into the pack. If they are able to succeed, there would be no telling what would happen to my pack. And since they’re a species not well known, we don’t know their weaknes

Adam was as straightforward as ever, cutting right to the chase.“I told you. I went there because I was worried about Aria.” Irene replied after a beat of gathering her thoughts. But her voice didn’t come out as composed as she wanted it to.“And you went there intending to do what with your worry?”There was no hint of care in Adam’s face. He didn’t actually look curious about her actions. He might have been, but Irene couldn’t read Adam.He was always a blank board to her.Irene’s gut twisted. Her initial plan was to use her spells against whatsoever Aria was facing. But on second thought now, how could she have been so reckless? What exactly had come over her to make her think that she could go to the border, perform a few spells against the mysterious creatures, and save the day?Irene, herself, knew that she wasn’t the sharpest tool in the box. But she also knew that she was exactly so reckless and foolish. So what then had come over her and possessed her to head straight to an

Of course, Irene kept her question to herself since it was clear as day that no one was going to grant her a proper answer. She was forced to ride back in a shared car with Atlas to Adam’s mansion. All through the journey, Atlas kept on threatening and sneering at her, like she was in some deep trouble that would lead to her doom.Irene was already well aware of the fact that she was in trouble, she didn’t need Atlas rubbing it all over her face.A journey that was supposed to be long ended up being short because of Irene’s overthinking and false perception of the distance. As soon as the car stopped, Atlas basically pushed Irene out of it and held onto her tight once again, restraining her from escaping him.No one interceded for her as they watched Atlas drag her into the mansion with a manic look in his eyes.“Can you stop pulling me!? I’m already moving, chill out a bit!” Irene demanded as Atlas was about to pull her up the staircase that led to Adam’s study.“Heh. Like you have a

There were five wolves surrounding Irene. As they shifted into their human forms, the one in the middle stepped forward. His eyes were a familiar shade of cyan blue and his hair was jet black. He had young features so she could guess that he was either eighteen or nineteen. He bore a resemblance to two people who Irene knew. She was trying to remember who those two people were when the boy marched over to her, grabbed her arm aggressively, and yanked her up from the ground.“What the fuck are you doing here? And who are you??” he spat out rudely.Irene, who was still dealing with the aftermath of the shock the monster wolf gave to her, was too disoriented to understand or respond to the boy.Because of this, he tightened his grip on her arm, evoking an ‘ow’ from Irene.“Stop, let go of me,” she demanded, trying to rip her arm off his grip as she gained slight composure.“Are you one of them?? Did you do this??” The boy shook Irene roughly, referring to the dead wolves in the clearing.
