CHAPTER 9
A few weeks have passed since that beautiful encounter between Ethan and me. I felt so shy to face him again after that day, but the next day in school, Ethan acted like nothing happened. We have become closer than ever; we do a lot of things together that I never saw us doing. We go to class together, study together and even go for lunch together like we are right now. Ethan and I are at a nice restaurant after a long day of lectures.

It seems like only yesterday that everyone was wishing each other a happy new year, but now posters of happy Valentines can be found everywhere. I can’t believe January is almost over and February is already around the corner. It’s been three weeks since Ethan and I started seeing each other. I don’t know if I should say we are dating because we have been on a lot of dates, but Ethan has not asked me to be his girlfriend. Surprisingly I am dying for him to ask me to be his girlfriend. I cried so much, I was scared my eyes were going to fall out. My heart was stabbed a thousand times that day. The next day came, and I tried to talk to Ethan but got cold shoulders from him. I did not give up; I plan to try my best to explain to him what really happened that day, no matter what it takes. I am waiting at the door of his lecture hall. I finished my classes earlier than him today, so I have enough time to spare. Ethan and I might be studying the same major, but we still have different minors, so all our classes are not together. The clock hits five, and his class is over. I wait eagerly and nervously to talk to him. "Ethan," I say, trying to stop him before he leaves like always. He does not answer and keeps walking. Time flies really fast and truly waits for no one. I can’t believe today was my graduation. I am finally done with university. I am so happy that words can’t even describe how I feel. The graduation ceremony finished a few hours ago. I am with my whole family, celebrating this incredible achievement of mine. My dad, mom and all my siblings are here with Amina and her son. We are having dinner at a lovely restaurant. "Now that you are done with university, my dear, do you plan to stay back like your brother or come back to Nigeria?" My legs take their own accord and start walking towards the exit of the airport. Please, Allah, save Ethan; I pray that nothing terrible has happened to him. I find an empty cab with ease and give the address of the hospital to the driver that I could remember Grace saying over the phone before it slipped from my palms. It takes a good hour before we get to the hospital and all the way my hands have not stopped shaking. They have been trembling in fear of what state Ethan might be in. I quickly step out of the cab and walk towards the entrance of the hospital.
