“What do you mean I should just marry him?” I snapped, indignation tearing at my skin as I stared back at Lina who immediately looked sideways.
I dropped my spoon down and pushed aside my half eaten oatmeal. I refused to come down for breakfast until everyone had eaten and gone out.
I waited until I was certain father was in the meeting room together with his officials, then I came down to eat, but at this point, I lost my appetite.
“Are you seriously advising me to give consent to my death, is this you being ignorant, or you simply have no idea what Alpha Axton really is?”
She sighed heavily. “There is no one who doesn't know Alpha Axton, the revered god of war.”
I scoffed. “Right, you sure know that because that's the title everyone knows him with, how about the fact that he is a cold, dangerous, heartless and wicked person?”
She said nothing.
“How about the fact that he can easily order my death without thinking twice, how about–”
“Sorry to cut you off, my lady, but I think it's best you just marry him.” She said.
“I won't.” I hissed. “I would no longer do as father wants me to, I have my rights, you know. Why must it be me, why must I sacrifice myself for the peace of Crestmoon pack?”
She opened her mouth to talk but I shushed her up.
“If my rejection to marry Alpha Axton means that Crestmoon pack would crumble, then so be it.”
Having lost my appetite, I stood up to leave. But Vesper intercepted my way.
“And who do we have here?” She asked, mockery laced her voice as she eyed me from head to down.
I said nothing, I wasn't even in the mood to talk to her, I knew myself, I knew what I would do if I continued standing there and listening to whatever nonsense she was going to spout.
“Oh, I see it's the soon to be wedded wife of Alpha Axton.” She snickered. “I never knew someone would stoop so low to choose someone as you, if anything, you should be glad, no… you should be grateful that someone wants to be with a wretched being like you.”
Each word she said, I struggled within me to simmer down the bubbling anger inside of me.
I knew she was here to provoke me, and she would stop at nothing until she saw me red with anger. It's a pity I wouldn't give her such luxury.
I smiled at her. “Are you done babbling?”
“No.” She chuckled. “Of course not.”
“How about you drag out a chair and sit, you shouldn't stand for long lest you lose consciousness.”
She growled at me. “Who are you to use my sickness to mock me?”
“Me?” I made sure I laughed in her face before saying. “I am your older stepsister, and I am someone who is far more sensible than you.”
“Really? I never knew you could be this jealous. Are you seriously being this way because Raven chose me over you.”
I could feel it, it was coming. The anger has started to bubble again, and if I continued being with her, I would explode and end up doing something I won't regret. However, for the sake of my reputation, I wouldn't do anything to her.
When I felt I had the anger under control, I pasted on a smile and took one step close to her. “Did you just say I am being jealous?”
“I am sure you are not deaf.” She hissed, looking me straight in my eyes.
Still maintaining the smile on my face, I said, “Why should I be? I won't deny it though. I was indeed jealous, heartbroken and pained that he chose you over me but now… I have absolutely no reason to be.”
“It’s funny how you are denying it when it's everywhere on your face that you badly love Raven.”
“My love is for no one else but Alpha Axton, he has double the wealth of Raven, he is feared all over the werewolf clan, you think I would continue fussing over some idiot when I already have something much more waiting for me.”
I snickered. “Dream on.”
Vesper glared so hard at me. I bet she wanted to hit me so badly. Too bad she wouldn't dare try to do that.
“You can leave when you are done chatting with the empty space, or better still,” I glanced at my back where my oatmeal sat in the middle of the dining table. “You can finish up my food. You don't need to thank me though, I can be quite generous when I want to.”
“You daring witch.” Vesper screamed.
“Keep it coming dear.” I said with a smug smile. “After today, you won't see me again.” That said, I walked away, shaking my head and whistling.
“My lady?” Lina panted when she finally caught up with me. “Did you mean what you said?” She asked.
I tilted my head to the side. “Mean what?”
“Getting married to Alpha Axton of course.” A slight frown crept her face when I gave her no reply. “Don’t tell me you were simply being that way because you wanted to get on Lady Vesper's nerves?”
“There is nothing wrong with that.” I muttered and shrugged.
I heard her sigh. “It’s a pity Alpha Kael won't let you have your way.”
I snorted and turned a corner, heading towards my room which was at a far end in a secluded part of the huge mansion. “He had never allowed me to have my way.”
“This time is different, my lady.”
“Continue, I see you are on their side, you can as well escort me straight to my husband's house.”
“Don’t get me wrong, my lady. Just try and see where I headed. This place… it doesn't favor you at all.”
“That doesn't change the fact that I carry the blood of Alpha Kael, I am his daughter, his rightful heir to the throne of Crestmoon pack. I can't just sit and watch an illegitimate idiot take over what is mine.”
“You never said this when you thought master Raven was going to propose to you, what's with the sudden obsession with becoming the Luna of Crestmoon pack?”
I stopped walking, she stopped walking too.
“It seems you are starting to forget your place, Lina. Let me remind you then, I am your Alpha's daughter, while you are simply the daughter of a nobody.”
She fell on her knees and bowed her head very close to the ground. “Forgive me, my lady.”
“Keep that in mind and stop being nosy with matters that don't concern you.” I stomped off leaving her behind.
‘That was harsh.’ Lara hissed at me. ‘She was only voicing her concerns for you.’
I rolled my eyes at her words. ‘Just keep quiet and quit fueling my anger.’
She harrumped. ‘Not when I'm in the mood to taunt you for losing your so-called beloved to your stepsister.’
‘Will you just shut up, I am trying to think here.’
‘You sure know we are connected right, and that I can read your thoughts.’
I pressed on my forehead and let out a frustrated sigh. ‘How about you shut up?’
‘Not a chance.’
I was now close to my room, I was about to respond to Lara but I didn't, instead I stopped walking and looked around me.
For some reason, something felt… off. I couldn't place it exactly but as I continued walking further towards my door, the unsettling feeling continued.
Even Lara felt uncomfortable.
However, by the time I reached my door, the unsettling feeling calmed down. I waved whatever negative thoughts off my mind and pushed my door open.
What first caught my attention was my opened windows.
I stared long at the opened windows, I never opened my window when going out and I was certain Lina did not open the door for she knew I always liked it close.
I ruled out the fact that someone might have entered and tampered with my stuff, when I saw everything was in order the way I kept them.
Brushing aside any disturbing thoughts, I just walked to my window and closed them.
That was when I felt it…
The almost soundless footsteps of someone.
Whoever this person was, wasn't one of us. I felt it because the energy the person emitted was strong, and it ignited fear unlike ours.
My palm balled into fist as my mind quickly raced on how to escape whoever was behind me.
I soon realized how slow I was when a thick cloth was covered over my head. “Forgive me, Luna, but this is the only way I can think of.” I heard the person say just before my head started to spin and my eyes closed as I sunk deep into oblivion.
KaylaThe kiss was becoming intense, as the seconds rolled by, I could feel myself slowly sinking into his touches.Lara wasn't helping matters, if anything, she wanted to take control of my body.Hell no way was I going to allow that. Lara was sure to cause chaos.Axton's finger trailing down my thighs forced my eyes open. Gosh, I still can't believe I actually closed my eyes while kissing someone I claimed to hate.He was just a touch away from my center when I gave him a push off my body. “What was that for?” I shot at him. “Do you go around kissing anyone and every woman you come across?”“No,” He shook his head slightly. “Only you, my love. Would it make you feel any better if I tell you right now you are the first woman I've ever kissed?”His eyes looked over my face, slowly dragging down to my cleavages. “Does it?” He asked again.“Cut the crap Axton. It doesn't make me feel better, and it never will.”“Really?” An amused smile played on the corner of his
Kayla“Are you glad?” “Huh?” I blinked twice, and stared at him, confusion everywhere on my face.“Glad about what?” I queried while looking as calm as I could afford to.He pursed his lips as if he were in deep thoughts, then he said, “I don't know, maybe you are glad your father doesn't need to be all false about his love towards you.”I scoffed. “As if I care.”“Oh, you do care.” He chuckled. “When I look at you, I see a lady deprived of real parental love. You might act like you hate him, but I know you don't.”“I thought I only had a husband, never knew he had some talents… face reader.” I scoffed. “Don’t act like you know me, you don't.”Another chuckle slipped out of his throat. “You should be happy, because there is nothing about you that I am unaware of.”“Don’t get ahead of yourself yet, Alpha Ferrell.” I dragged out his name. “I never agreed to be your woman.”“My woman?” He repeated. I looked away the moment I realized I had my eyes in him all thes
KaylaThe walk was a silent one, not that I'd appreciate any conversation between–a Luna, and her maid–anyway.‘Is that you acknowledging the fact that you are Alpha Axton's Luna?’ I knew that voice. Lara was teasing me.I rolled my eyes at her, and muttered a low ‘shut the fuck up.’She giggled quietly, but said nothing more, until we got to what looked like a study. A private study room rather.“Are you sure he is here?” I asked her, as her eyes looked over the sandalwood door. She nodded. “Yes Luna.” She bowed respectfully, and walked away leaving me torn between going inside or leaving.I ended up choosing the former.A small push, and a little weight on the door, it opened, almost sending me to hit my forehead on the marble floor. After the shock of almost falling down wore off, I straightened. My eyes roamed over the dark room, I couldn't see a thing despite how much I squinted my eyes. Whatever was a sane person doing in a very dark room such as this o
Kayla“Let go of me.” My voice was a helpless stutter. I hoped he didn't see the fear in my eyes.He first tightened his grip, then he let go, gave my chin a soft rub before taking a step backwards. The moment he moved away from me, his expression hardened, when he opened his mouth and started to talk, his voice was icily cold.It felt like he was a different person altogether, like someone with multiple personalities. “This would be your room from today onwards. Until you fully acknowledge me as your husband, this is where you will stay, far and away from the main packhouse.”Without sparing me another glance, he stalked out of the room. After the door closed behind him, I exhaled rather sharply and sank down on my knees.‘He’s so scary, I don't like him again.’ Lara remarked, startling me a bit.‘I never did, but I'm glad to hear your confession.’ I muttered with a snort.‘At least, he is way better off than your so-called annoying jerk of an ex.’ She hissed.‘Don’t talk about Raven
Kayla The kiss was nothing I had ever tasted, his lips was so soft, the way his tongue danced in perfect rhythm with mine…Kayla. Get a rein on your thoughts.Pushing him off my body with the last bit of strength in me, I flashed him what could pass for a murderous look. That was if he could see me.“What the hell do you think you are doing?”The room lit up the same moment he smacked his lips, and leaned in closer. I looked at him closely. His blue soft eyes stared at me, his lips curved up with pure mischief. “Kissing my bride, of course.”“You wish.” This was the man everyone–including myself–said was very dangerous, the man who killed and destroyed people however he wanted, it was funny that now that I was in such close proximity with him, I wasn't in anyway scared at all.And I don't think I would ever be.His eyes stared briefly at mine, then he moved away. “Is it still hard for you to see your ex boyfriend with another woman, your half sister to be pre
KaylaWhen my eyes opened again, I was no longer in my room but inside a dark looking room.I blinked twice and struggled to adjust to the darkness at the same time, I wondered where I was.I didn't wonder for long as the door to the room I was in opened and someone entered. In the still darkness, I made out the silhouette of a man. He closed the door behind him and stood by the door for a long time then he walked fully inside.Whoever he was, I had no idea, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't see his face. The only thing I managed to make out was his white hair.“I can see you are awake.” He said. His voice was deep and husky yet it sounded sexy to my ears.Weird.“Why did you abduct me?” I shot at him. Alpha Axton was the only person who came to mind. No one, absolutely no one would dare venture into Crestmoon pack and abduct the Alpha's daughter.Outside, everyone believed I was the favorite amongst the two of us, so no one would want to taste the wrat
