Part Two, Chapter Seventeen

Jean Luc thought he was hallucinating when he first gazed into the dark brown eyes he never forgot. The eyes of the murderer he had loved.

Then, when she spoke in that too-familiar voice again, he felt his world crumbling down. He knew that was how he should have felt--like all his nightmares had compiled into one. He was ashamed to have felt something relight in him. Like an empty void filling itself at the mere sight of a demon.

He had seen her for about half an hour. The pain of betrayal was still there, as were the memories from three years ago. It seemed like just yesterday when she left.

Yet, things have changed.

Not in his life, not really. He received plenty of opportunities to improve his life, and he took them all despite knowing most of them came from Raven. He had been working closer and closer to granting his biggest wish of a life away from Domsville.
