Casey chuckled as he looked at his phone. There were pictures of Ava running down the sidewalk barefoot while shouting at some lady. She looked panicked and her arm was raised as she yelled with her hair flying behind her. He wondered what had happened that lead to this.
"What are you laughing about?" Klaire asked.
She was laying next to him on the bed. Since they had gotten into the fight they had not really been speaking alot. Although he did have a problem with her he refused to tell her to avoid an even bigger problem. He knew that it was not healthy to have that kind of behavior and it probably meant that the relationship they have is not the best but he did not want to have to cross that bridge yet.
And when Ava asked the question Klaire was also silent but she didn't say that she had a problem with him even when he asked her. Casey could not think of what her problem with him could be. It sounded mean but she was the one who caused alot of the problems so he could not think of anything wrong on his part.
He braced himself to hear her words and showed her his phone. Her eyebrows scrunched.
"What is that woman doing?" she scoffed and looked away. "I seriously can't believe she is qualified to be someone to help others. She seriously does not look like it."
Casey gave her a confused look. "She did her job pretty well yesterday so I have no idea what you're talking about. She asked the real questions."
Klaire rolled her eyes. "Yeah, but she is invasive. It's not her business about all the stuff she asked us."
Casey smiled to hide his expression of shock. He stretched out his hand and rubbed her head. "That's her job. She studied for it and now she is doing it. Not that hard to understand."
Klaire didn't say anything and went back on her phone. Casey sighed and went back on his. He snuck glances at her every so often. He loved her and he hoped that it would not change but those little things she said really irked him. He hoped she would grow out of it so that his feelings would not be completely vanquished by her ways.
The next day, at two forty-five, they both headed to Ava's office. He had asked Klaire to not be so snarky and ask necessary questions when they for there. She really embarrassed him the last time and he did not want a repeat of it.
When they got there, there was obviously some paparazzi but he ignored them as best they could. They were taken into the same room as before snd this time Ava was seated behind the desk, typing on a computer. Her hair was up in a bun and she wore jeans and an oversized t-shirt. Alot more casual than before.
"Hi, guys." she smiled at them and got up. "Ready to get down to business."
Casey nodded and Klaire stayed silent. Ava made her way to the couch and they sat on the one next to her like before. Casey took a deep breath enjoying the smell of the place and calming his heart. He prayed that this session would go smoothly.
"Oh, Ms. Maddison, I was curious as to how you got this place to smell so amazing."
Ava looked at him and smiled. "It smells like laundry aisle doesn't it."
"Yeah," he chuckled.
"I actually don't know. I told my secretary to get this place to smell like a laundry aisle and she miraculously did it. I was too shocked I forget to ask her how she did it."
"You have a secretary? Is it one of the receptionists?"
"Oh no, she's not here. She's on maternity leave." Ava nodded.
"Ah, ok." Casey nodded.
Klaire cleared her throat. "Can we begin please?"
"Yes, yes of course." she picked up her pad and flipped through a few pages. Once she landed on one her eyes scanned over the page before she looked up at them. "Ok, so can you guys tell me what happened after you left?"
"We had an argument," Casey admitted.
"And were things revealed in that argument?"
"Not really," he said.
Ava nodded and scribbled something down. "Alright so we need communication and we need to share what's in our hearts so that we can get past them so we don't feel the weight of it anymore."
Casey nodded slowly and Klaire just looked at Ava with an unreadable expression.
"I want you two to face each other." She gestured to them. "Come on, and hold hands, look into each other's eyes."
Casey gave her an amused look but he turned to Klaire and held out his hands, Klaire turned to face him and she held his hands. They looked into each other's eyes and he gave her a smile, Klaire gave him a little smile.
"Now, feel the love between you two, the connection you've made for all that time feel it."
He kept their gaze locked and he smiled wider. They both looked fondly into each other's eyes. They almost got lost in their gazes when Ava spoke up.
"Now, Casey, tell Klaire why you're hesitant to tell her what the problem is."
Casey took in a breath and gathered himself. It was not like he was telling her the actual problem so he should be fine.
"Because I don't want to create a bigger problem."
"Ok, good, and Klaire, tell Casey why you don't want to tell him what the problem is."
Klaire gripped his hands harder and she looked away. Casey was seriously curious as to what the problem could be.
"Because he'll think I'm being dumb."
Ava hummed. "Good. Now Casey, would you think that Ava revealing her problem to you would make you think lesser of her?"
"Not unless she killed anyone or cheated on me or something."
Her hands gripped his harder. Shocked Casey pulled away.
"What was that?" he asked her incredulously.
"What was what?" she asked.
"You reacted when I said that. Did you cheat on me?"
"What?!"
They both flinched at her screech.
"How could you even think that?!"
"Then why did you react like that?"
"I didn't react like anything." she defended.
"Ok, ok," Ava said calmly. "Let's bring out voices back down alright. What reaction did Ms. Owen have that has you suspecting that she hinted at cheating on you?"
"Her grip tightened."
"He's being delusional!" Klaire snapped.
"Alright well let's look at it this way. If you brought up cheating and he squeezed your hands then would you not think that he reacted to it for a reason?"
Klaire didn't say anything for a second. "Yes, but I would never cheat on him."
"And you're saying that I would?" Casey was beginning to get heated.
"She never said that Mr. Miller."
"I never said that! Why are you making this harder than it needs to be? You're the one who wanted to come here in the first place."
"Because we need to get better at communication before we get married. And you keep deflecting the question."
"Because it's ridiculous! Why would I cheat on you?!"
"Then why did you react like that?"
"I didn't react any sort of way!"
"Ok. Can we please calm down here?" Ava stood up.
She walked around the coffee table and went in between the table and couch. She sat down and took both of their hands and placed them together.
"Take deep breaths and calm down. We get nowhere when we're shouting our heads off and firing off the first things that come to our heads. We need to think about our words carefully so that we do not say anything we don't mean."
Casey took a deep breath and looked away from Klaire. He didn't want to be in the same room as her. He knew that there was something up. Did she really cheat on him? Her reaction hinted at it but he didn't believe it because of how obsessed she acted with him. Or maybe it was a ploy to make him think that she would never. Casey shook his head. He was thinking too much into it.
"Now, I need you two to look back at each other and apologize. Can you do that?"
Klaire huffed and refused to look at Casey. He had turned his head back so that he could try. When they did have disagreements it was always him to apologize first and that was also one of his problems with the relationship.
"Come on Ms. Owen look at him. He's your lovely fiance right. Look into his eyes." Ava urged.
She rolled her eyes but turned her head and faced him nonetheless.
"Good, now tell each other you're sorry for raising your voices at each other."
Klaire sneered and turned to look at Ava. "Why are you treating us like children, we know how to apologize."
Ava tilted her head. "So then why do I get the impression that you never do Ms. Owen?"
Klaire's eyes blew wide. And before they knew what was going on she raised her hand and struck Ava across the face.
There was silence.Ava's head whipped to the side and her eyes widened. Klaire, even shocked by her actions covered her mouth with her hands, seeming to not believe what she had just done. Casey collected himself after a few seconds and immediately pulled away from Klaire."Ava, Ms. Maddison, are you ok? I am so sorry. Are you ok?" he said frantically and bent down to see her face.A bright pink mark appeared on her cheek after a couple of seconds and when he saw her face he could not help but be puzzled. She looked somber. Ava shook her head a couple of times and then turned back and faced Klaire. And when she turned back there was a deep glare on her face."I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." Klaire said softly while shaking her hands.
As soon as the door closed and Klaire and Casey left, Ava leaned forwards against her desk. Her hands digging into the edge of the table. Tears escaped her eyes and rolled her the bruise, making her even more aware of it. In all of her years of dealing with difficult people, never in her life had she been disrespected like this.To be humiliated like this in her own workplace. How could she ever live this down? Luckily it was a private affair but who knew what Klaire would do when they left. She could go to the internet and shame her and tell everyone about the incident.A small sob escaped her mouth and her hands shook, her tears splashed on the top of the desk. The silence of the toom mocked her as the scene replayed in her head over and over again. She knew that she should have not taken them as clients. All people like that do is br
The next day came and Ava had to act like nothing ever happened. There were a couple of times in the past where she had to stop seeing a client due to them being unwilling or developing problems beyond her help so this was not the first time she did that. She could not care less about what social media will think about it and how many theories they will out forward. All she wanted ws to move on and never be involved with that couple ever again."You know you can take a day off. Yesterday was pretty upsetting." Emily said to her as she walked past the receptionist's desk."I have a client today so I cannot," she said. "I don't want to spend an entire day thinking about what happened. It's better if I continue on with life and not poison my thoughts.""You're the boss."
Casey stood outside of the front door hesitant to open it. He did not want to have to talk to Klaire and hear all of her complaints and justifications. He was not sure why he deluded himself into staying with her when he knew how she was. He was blinded by love and let her get away with alot of things. But she went too far this one time and hurt Ava physically and emotionally.Taking in a deep breath he unlocked the door and went inside. The house was silent. He looked through the hallway that leads to the vast living room. His steps were soft and he looked around carefully. Everything seemed to be normal. Nothing was broken and he could not hear Klaire at all. That could either be a good thing or a really bad thing.Casey walked to their room, suspecting that she would be in there. The door was slightly open and when he pushed it open
Three days later, Casey found himself standing in the parking lop of Ava's office with Klaire hooked on his arm. She was acting sweet and cheery. As if their previous fight did not happen. He looked through the glass doors anxiously, wondering how Ava would act when they came. Her receptionist would probably intercept them and prevent their meeting.Because of Klaire's actions, he was forced between a rock and hard place. Casey knew that Klaire was crazy and he did not want to take any chances with that. If she killed herself then he would have that on his conscience for the rest of his life. It was not even about breaking up anymore, or her being gone, but he would be blamed for it, and living with that was not something he wanted to do."Come on baby, what are we waiting for." she tugged on his arm.
Why was Ava even surprised? Of course, he didn't break up with her. He had dealt with alot of the things she had done over the years and so the incident to him was probably just another usual thing that Klaire does. Maybe she should have stepped in when he asked for her help so that their relationship could have ended permanently. It's not the first time she had been asked to help with a breakup. Ava would provide tips and ideas but never actually be there for it. But she would make exceptions in extreme cases if needed. And in Klaire's case, the police may have been needed to be called if he really did leave her. But now that they were here and asking for her forgiveness and Klaire inputting as well. She was rethinking all of her thoughts over the past few days."Are you seriously thinking of letting them back in here?" Amy asked as sh
As she predicted, she had to push through a thick crowd of paparazzi in order to get up to her apartment. All of them shouting essentially the same things, wanting to know what happened to Casey and Klaire and if it's true. It really pissed Ava off but what made her even madder was that they waited for her at her apartment and not her office because if they were there then they would be able to see that Klaire and Casey were in fact together. And even if they had broken up then it would not have been her business anymore. They should have all gone to Casey's house instead of bothering her. They would have certainly gotten more answers if they used their brains a little more. She believed they had enough brain cells to press the buttons on cameras and ask senseless questions."I have no privacy anymore because of them." she sighed as she
Klaire was clearly uncomfortable with the topic but Ava needed to know more. Her childhood could very well be the root of her issues and so getting more information was the only way she would be able to figure that out. From what she had heard so far, she guessed that Klaire was lonely and had no one to call her own, and now she is overcompensating for that as an adult."Who was the person who left you with the biggest wound. The person you feel the most betrayed by?"Klaire shifted. Her hands gripped her skirt and her eyebrows scrunched. "My mother." she swallowed. "I looked up to her and thought she was the most amazing person but she always ignored me and handed me off to my grandparents. But it's not like it was any better with them. They hated me too.""Is there is a reason for th
