30. FIRE INCIDENT
Composure was the new gnome in our lives, since having Ashton back in our daily lives seemed to be the main cure that got everyone hyped up all over again. Even Mya and Brendan seemed to be over the moon with how things turned out, turns out they were tired of having a more 'brooding Lina' day in and day out. It certainly felt great to have some calm in our lives again, not having to think of what to do to keep yourself busy from thinking about depressing events in our lives.
The dangerous life we had been scared of more than half a year ago seemed to be a distant memory now. Having those kinds of dangers removed from our lives was relief that allowed us to have a normal life, apart from what we had to deal with in our private lives. Kyle Simpson had made us all keep our guards up at all times, more precautions were being taken so we wouldn't find ourselves in that kind of situation again.

Mya managed to gain conciousness as she was taken to one of the nurse rooms in the school. I explained she wasn't exposed to any fire or smoke, it was just shock that rendered her unconscious. After processing all they were told, my friends took to this whole thing like a fish to water. They accepted my being without any restrictions, Ashton as well. Our friendship grew even stronger without any prohibitions in our lives. We were able to have a prosperous senior year, prepared ourselves accordingly for the final exams. Although we were on the peak of exams commencing, there was always a tradition of having our matric dance before the exams started. Matric dance is like prom dance for other countries, we called it differently because it only happened when we were in our senior year, matric class. Tranquility. One scene that has always been a part of me for as long as I can remember. School days were the worst because I was required to be among people, normal people. He looked like he just stepped out of a male fashion catalogue. No wonder there were a lot of thoughts shouting towards him, especially from the girls. He really did look good, like Mya had said. I went back downstairs after putting away my school stuff and went to the kitchen to help myself to something to eat before training.I practice every day so that I know how to control my superpowers and I also learn how to defend myself without using the powers. Brendan seemed to be having an impatient aura around him. He really wanted to talk about the scene that happened on the previous day after we left school. I didn’t want to talk about it at all because I knew that I’d end up saying something I didn’t want to say. School ended as usual, around three o’clock in the afternoon. I walked off to the parking lot with Mya and Brendan. We were still discussing about the lesson we had in Biology class today.
