Chapter Two

I heard her sniffle, my heart shattered into a million pieces.

" your father is doing everything in his power to get hold of Connor." Mom said.

I whirled my eyes at the mention of my father. Everything happened because of him, he had to show his ugly face at my wedding, ruining with his ill-fortune. I reckoned if mom had walked me down the aisle perhaps Connor and I would have been married by now. " that asshole, I hate him!"

" He is your father, Gabby!"

I scoffed loudly. " my father, what kind of a father abandoned his family for some cheap whore?" I spat.

" Gabrielle..." My mom yelled.

" No mom, answer me. he abandoned us, and here you are acting like none of that happened, feeling remorse for the same man who left you take carter for your child, all alone?"

" He's changed now baby, we should learn to forgive and forget." She persuaded.

I rolled my eyes, mom is definitely by love. I hate men. " Bye, mom." Without reticence, I hung up the call. I looked up to see Michelle staring down at my iPad with her eyes wide open. I moved to her side of the bed, to take a peek at what she was gazing at. It was the stupid news again, but this time it wasn't about my wedding disaster. It was about the famous Cole Manchester. Since I was a teenager to date, I've been obsessed with him, he was a football player, and he played for the NFL. He owned one of the biggest football clubs in the world. He is a star and every girl's dream. He could take your breath away by a mere glance.

" Gosh, he is so dreamy! " Michelle bathed her eyelashes dramatically at his picture showing on the screen.

I scoffed and went to lay back on the bed. Men are scum.

It took times, hours, days, and weeks for me to get began getting over my wedding disaster with Connor. It's been two weeks already.

Gabby's POV.

Ready? Michelle asked, flinging her purse over her shoulder. I nodded with my mouth filled with some leftover pizza from last night.

Michelle had precisely forced me to leave the hotel room, I had kicked off the idea initially, however, a part of me still yearned for the outside world. I was the kind who loves being outside, shopping, partying, exploring the world, and meeting new people, Rather than staying indoors, stuffing my face full of popcorn while watching Netflix all day or snuggling on the couch and snoring in my sleep with cans of soft drinks and pizza boxes littered all around the room.

"Let's go!"

I adjusted the scarf on my head and wore my sun shades properly. I would do anything possible to avoid being all over the news again.

My marriage crisis news had started to die down, ever since Cole Manchester got into town. I was grateful, however, their attention was still focused on me. What can I say, my father was an arrogant businessman in the city, everyone knows him for his ego and mellow attitude. he was the reason I was getting so much attention regarding my wedding Crisis.

" We'll go get some coffee at Starbucks first, you cool?" Michelle asks.

" Sure." I took one at myself before we took the elevator to the ground floor.

The ride to Starbucks wasn't calm, with Ed Sheraan music blaring from the speaker, Michelle was nodding her head to the rhythm of the song as she drove. Occasionally, she would take a peek at the diamond ring on her finger. I recall how I reacted when Connor put a ring on my finger. I was overjoyed and wouldn't stop flaunting my ring in people's faces, especially my horrible cousins and aunts who would blab trash about me being almost thirty without a man in my life.

I guess they will all be full of laughter after the drama, Connor pulled off.

The car engine shuts down, snapping from my trance back to verity.

" you go ahead and buy the coffee, I will wait in the car."

Michelle squinted her eyes, and the smile that was flashing on her face slowly varnished and turn to a frown.

" No Gabs, you have to stop isolating yourself." She advised.

" I'm not. I just don't like the attention I draw each time I step out in public." I countered.

She rolled her eyes at me and let out a frustrated sigh." Attention is nothing new to you, you're used to it already. I can't lay back and watch you isolate yourself because of what Connor did."

True, but it was so hard to move on. We are literally in the same city. I do not want to ever bump into him and /or his lover. That would be another heartbreak that I do not want to experience. ever.

" Fine! I will get the coffee, but on one condition."

" And what is the condition?"

" you promise to go into the mall with me for shopping." She lays her inexcusable condition.

I nodded with a smile and gave her a playful nudge on her right arm. She scampered out of the car and walked into Starbucks.

I sat there in the car, nodding my head slowly to the song playing.

Life had to teach me the hard way, I didn't deserve getting heartbroken by some dude, and neither do I deserve getting dumped at the alter on my wedding day and in front of the whole world.it sucks that such a catastrophe happened to none other person but for me.

My focus caught a glimpse of Michelle talking to a random guy with shaggy- bristle. I noticed the glisten of pleasure in her eyes as she spoke to the guy. The stranger doesn't look bad either, but his beard and hit were way too bushy.
