Chapter 17

“Senior Frank !” Stephanie called out in disbelief.

Frank and Stephanie had graduated from the same medical school, though he was a year ahead of her.

After graduating,Frank had gone abroad for further studies, and that was the last time Stephanie saw or heard from him . But she heard from rumors that Frank, left medicine to take over his family business.

Stephanie had always admired him back then, because he was so talented in medicine.

Stephanie was so surprised, she didn’t expect to meet Frank today, and not only that he was also the one who had saved Liam and Lilly from the car accident a moment ago.

Frank was equally surprised to see Stephanie, he didn’t expect her to be related to the two kids he just saved.

And from how nervous she had been, it’s seems they had a close relationship, like that of siblings or mother and children

“Senior Fran, thank you so much, if not for you, I can’t imagine what would have happened…”

Frank snapped back to reality, and smiled at her. “I oh, it’s nothing , what matters most is that they’re not hurt!”

“Are they your siblings?” he asked.

Over the years, people had always assumed that Liam and Lilly were Stephanie’s younger siblings, coupled with the fact that they called her by her name , and she hadn’t bothered explaining their relationship.

But now….” She glanced at him.

Frank had once asked her out, when they were still in school and she rejected him, because she was in love with someone, she doesn’t know if he had gotten over his feelings for her.

Thinking of this, she decided to tell him the truth.

“Nope! They are my children”

Frank paused, something flashed in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared before anyone could noticed it.

Was it pain, loneliness, or something more complicated?

Its seems like one of those .

Feeling a bit disappointed, he quickly composed himself and asked. “So, you are married?”

“Not exactly, I’m a single mom.” Stephanie answered.

Hearing this, Frank mood brightened up a little. “I heard you went to Finland heart research center, and you are now a well known heart surgeon, how were you able to manage, schooling and single handedly raising two children?”

Stephanie smiled and glanced at the two children, they’re the one taking care of me, not the other way round. By the way senior what are you doing here?”

“You might have heard that I quit medicine , to take over our family business. Well that’s true, I was planning to expand my family business to Cali city, so I moved down here recently.”

He was on his way to the company, when he saw a car heading towards Stephanie’s children, who were so engrossed in their discussions that they didn’t notice the danger ahead, without thinking, he had rushed to the scene and pulled the children away at the last minute.

His determination just now, was probably because he was reminded of his own experience.

His parents had died in a car accident, and luckily he had survived, even though he was with them in the same car.

As an orphan who had experienced the pain of loosing a loved one at a tender age, he didn’t want the children’s parents to experience that kind of pain.

What he didn’t expect was for the children to be the children of the woman he had always loved.

Hearing this Stephanie was shocked, she had thought it was a mere rumor, how can someone so talented like frank,give up on what he loved doing, how can he sacrifice his career just like that.

Thinking of this he looked up at him, “what happened?” She didn’t believe that Frank is someone who would sacrifice his happiness for family.

“It’s a long story, we’ll talk about it when next we meet, by the way where are you guys going to, let me give you a ride.”

“I think we’ll head back home, it’s already late, and they are not emotionally stable to go to school today,” Stephanie answered glancing at the two little ones.

Suddenly remembering what happened earlier,Stephanie glanced at Frank,her eyes filled with unspoken gratitude.

She couldn’t find the right words to express how grateful she was. If anything happens to her children, she didn’t know if she would continue living.

After a long silence, she murmured, “senior, I own you one for saving my kids, if you ever need my help on anything,don’t hesitate to tell me.”

“Okay, I will keep that in mind.”

“Steph, this is not an accident !” Frank suddenly said.

Stephanie looked up at him, her face showing a hint of surprise. She knows that this is not an accident, someone was trying to harm her children, but what she didn’t expect was that Frank also realized it.

“Yeah, i know.”

“This matter needs to be investigated, and find the culprits behind it. Do you need any help?”

“No is fine, I can hardly it alone,” Stephanie declined politely.

She’s still owing Frank for saving Liam and Lilly, and didn’t want to owe him more.

After all, she turned Frank down when he had asked her out before, and wasn’t ready for relationship now, even if she is, she doesn’t have any romantic feelings towards Frank.

“Let me add you on WeChat, so I can treat you to a meal some other time.”

Frank took out his phone and responded calmly. “Okay.” He opened the WeChat scanning function.

Soon after Stephanie’s phone made a ding sound, as a friend request appeared on the screen and she clicked, “accept.”

After chatting with him for a while, Stephanie took her children home.

Her Father said Margret and her daughter are not aware that she is back, then who could be the mastermind behind this?

Just yesterday, her father had told her that he saw Margret, and she asked him if he had been hearing from Stephanie, and Margret had even asked him when Stephanie will returned.

Could it be that they are aware that she’s back, but pretend not to know.
