Chapter Twenty-four

It was early in the afternoon and Serena had just woken up from a nap. She stared into space with her eyes half-closed. She contemplated checking her mail or her social media messages.

She grabbed her phone and decided to check her mail, but the floating notification on her lockscreen caught her attention. It was an Instagram notification; jax_sawyer followed you.

She stared at the notification and grinded her teeth, then she swiped it off and dropped her phone on the bed. She stood up and made for the kitchen, then another thought came to her head.

What if he sent a message?

She retreated to the bed, but the growing persistent tough girl in her took her legs back to the kitchen counter. What could she do to keep herself busy? She looked round the kitchen and her eyes caught the food container Hadley had left the pancakes in.
