Zachary narrowed his eyes at Leon, then gave a cold laugh. “So you’ve been played too.”

Leon picked up on the sarcasm immediately. “What are you talking about?”

“You’ll see. Come here,” Zachary said flatly.

Leon’s confusion only grew. “What is it now?”

“Come here. Or what, are you scared?” Zachary goaded him.

Leon clenched his jaw and walked over with visible irritation. “Quit playing games. Just say what you need to say.”

Zachary raised his phone and spoke into it. “Say it again.”

A voice came through the speaker: “Miss Sanders has been taken hostage by Vivian. She’s got a knife to her throat. Mr. Sanders is trying to manage the situation.”

Leon’s expression darkened instantly.

He slowly turned back toward the woman at his side.

The woman took a nervous step back but quickly tried to compose herself. Zachary subtly glanced at James for backup.
