Emily's POV

As I entered my room, I wondered why Dathan acted the way he did.

I was gonna have to see him, talk to him.

In truth, things had begun to get a little webby between us, but it didn't take away the fact that I was indeed Damon's.

Nervously, I changed out of my work clothes and rang the kitchen for my food to be served in my room. If I'd thought about it quickly, I'd just have gone to sit with Damon at the dining, cause dining alone in my room was going to raise eyebrows.

“Where are you off to?” Damon's voice broke into my thoughts. I snapped out of my reverie and looked back into the mirror I'd been staring at for minutes, before I blanked out. I could see Damon through it, one hand on the door handle, and the other akimbo. “You look dressed for something else.” He added.

“I just thought I could, you know..” I stalled a bit, considering the pros and cons of telling him the truth, “I thought I could check on Dathan.”

“But you've had a busy day.” He smiled and ban

Lucas’ POV “I'll drive.” took the keys from Emily and she knew better than to negotiate it with me. There were a thousand stuff running through my head and the only way to get it out was to drive. Heaven knows I'd go mad in that passenger princess's seat watching someone drive me so slow. “Where do you want to go?” Emily asked. “Back to the hotel” I answered. Wasn't it obvious? I really couldn't be anywhere else. “Can we at least grab lunch?” She asked. “Yes. We will. I'm sorry. I should've asked.” I softened a bit. She didn't deserve my attitude. And to be fair, Rayvn doesn't either. We were all victims of circumstance, and I'm grateful for every one and everything I have. Including those twins. I was going to call a hospital and see if they could take them in. The chances were low, man! I couldn't even sense their spirit, but I had to try.I drove up to a random restaurant that looked quite fancy on the roadside. “We'll order takeouts.” I said to her before

Emily's POV “Let's give her a minute.” I said. I grabbed his hand and we left. We stood in the hallway for an uncomfortable while. People passed to and fro, watching us, even though they all had their cares to deal with. It didn't make it easier that they knew at least one of us, Lucas of course. “If you chew that gum any harder, your jaw will lock” I gave in to my annoyance. He chuckled nervously and spat the gum out. “Come on!” I nearly screamed. “The only reason we made it this far is because I talked nicely to the lady downstairs. Keep up this act and we'd be out real soon.” “I'm sorry. I just have a bad feeling.” We heard Rayvn’s bell ring from outside, and like clockwork, the nurse ran past us and into the room. She stopped and gave us a smile though, sad as it looked; she was happy we complied. Lucas and I strained our ears for any sounds that we could hear. The soundproof door proved it's worth and we heard nothing, just shut out completely. Lucas, tense

Lucas’ POV “It's been over three hours.” I shook Emily up. “What's the time?” She asked sleepily. “It's eleven am.” I answered. It was a good idea to sleep the drugs out of my system, what she didn't know is that I can't sleep out the amount I'd dosed on. While she shuffled between conscious and half-consciousness, I doused my head in water a couple of times, till I felt a little bit alive. “Up now?” I rubbed my hands softly down her arm. “Yeah, yeah.” She sniffed. “I need clothes though.” “There's a couple of gowns in that drawer. I ordered them for something else, but we'd work with this.” “I'm curious.” Emily drawled. “You're too sleepy to be.” I joked and carried her up. “Let's do this, baby.” “Ooh. Pet names now?” She asked. “You've always been my pet. Just a stubborn one.” I smiledIt took about twenty minutes to get her to wake up, at least enough to take a shower and dress up. By the time we got done and ready, it was almost one pm. Emily refuse

Emily's POV I stayed still till I was sure that I had no company anymore. Matter of fact, I watched by my window as Vera and her hooded man made it out. Another thing I took note of was that the security guy was quite familiar with him. It was one of two things. Either he worked in Nevada, or our security had began eating from two plates. Five a.m. struck, and I watched the digital alarm in my office that goes off at the top of the hour ring. I had no sleep, and my eyes felt heavy and hooded, more as I had to strain my eyes in the dark. I didn't know if Vera was the only company I had. I needed to be cautious. Giving it one more hour, I shot up from where I'd been hiding. My limbs felt sore, and crankled with every step I took. Finally, I was out. The security guy I met had left, change of shifts I guess. It didn't mean that I did not have a hard time greeting the new guy who was actually one of my faves. Matter of fact, I'd given him a few stuffs, maybe not so few, cause

Emily's POV I hadn't seen Adrian too in a while. Not after that night that went badly. It was unkike him to not reach out. I was starting to think he'd reconsidered and decided to have a family with Lillian instead. Maybe the three-to-one was too much for him. Hell, I wasn't complaining. Who's he to feel bad about it? After about thirty minutes of intense lip pursing, leg shaking, and occasional sighs, I worked up the courage to call him. His number had sunk so deep in my call history. To call or to text? I had a hard time making my mind up. I finally gave in. He would have his reasons. It definitely would take more than that to chase Adrian off, that I was sure of. I rounded up my work on time and left the office about two hours earlier. Damon was absent, so no one else could keep me waiting. “Bye guys.” I chirped at the last set of people on my way out. The drive home was short, as usual, even though I stopped to get wings. Too lazy to cook or do anything for that m

Damon's POV “When last did you speak to Lucas?” Emily asked. That's the first thing she'd said to me in about a week now. “Been a minute. What's up?” I asked, trying not to let my excitement show. “It's been radio silence. Just wondering.” She said, trying not to look too bothered. “I'll place a call.” I offered dismissively. “Or is it his turn to warm your bed?” I asked. “Is that the only excuse that speaks to you. How about a concerned citizen thinking of another?” She asked sarcastically. “That's never been you. Don't lie to me. You want him so bad everyday he's stayed away from you dug the hole deeper within you. I wish I had his strength sometimes.” I sneered. “You know what? You're right. For every minute that I don't feel his touch, my skin hates it, it crawls. And crawls even more when someone else tries to fill his place.” She sucked her teeth lightly and left. “This bitch is just trying to get a reaction.” I told myself. “And I'm not gonna give her.”
