20. Raging fire
Loud banging woke me from my deep slumber and as I rubbed my eyes I realised that it was already morning, quite late actually because it was winter which meant the sun was fully up about 10ish and currently the bright winter sun was beaming in through my window.
Images of the night before come back and I feel my cheeks heat. My body was doing strange things, I hated how easily I had given myself to Daryl when I still wasn’t sure if I could fully trust him.
He had already gotten up and I take a few careful steps to the bathroom and let the hot water of the shower take my worries away. As I finished in the shower I heard my stomach rumble and I realised how hungry I was. I hadn’t felt like this in a long time and hurry to dress and head to the kitchen.

“Are you waking up today?” Daryl’s voice was loud and clear but I pull the covers up over my head, hiding myself from him whilst keeping my eyes tightly closed. Paige tries to reassure me but it doesn't work, right now, I didn’t know what was worse, staying a slave for Black night or being permanently without a wolf. Daryl tried to comfort me but when I pushed him away for the final time, he gets up and leaves, leaving me with someone I barely knew. Paige tells me that I was grieving for what I could have had, she also tells me she has been working on undoing the curse for nearly a decade and she feels she is getting closer. Her words do not make me feel any better and I stand to leave “Please don’t go. There will be no one to guard you” Her words fall flat as I open the door and step out into the darkness. Hours turned in to days and days turned into weeks, every time I saw Amber she couldn’t speak but she would drop notes either telling me Daryl was okay and he was working hard or saying that she was working on it but either way I was never allowed out my tiny room and guards stood at my door day and night.Daryl constantly talked to me, yet no matter how hard I tried, he couldn’t here a single word I was saying. The women from Tana’s pack were forced to join Daryl’s and any who didn't, risked their lives as they tried to flee, but as they registered me as his mate, the person they called a princess, they all took an oath to accept Daryl as their Alpha. The rest of the car ride was uneventful and for that I was grateful. Amber held my hand all the way and gave me regular smiles and little squeezes but I was starting to wonder if it was more for her own benefit than mine, after all she was coming to a new pack as well.As Cole steps out the car, he holds the door open for Amber and Daryl helps me out on the opposite side, ensuring I don’t slip in the snow.
