I can’t believe that Lylia is now fighting for her life.

If she just didn’t come to me. If she just stayed with her mom. None of this would have happened.

I tried to save her.

I rushed to save her, but because of the speed and her distance from me, I knew I would never reach her on time. I was glad for the first time that Mateo was there. And since we have known each other for a long time, he was able to see my plan even without talking.

I went straight for the car, while Mateo’s focus was on Lylia.

I leaped and shifted in the air and dropped directly in front of the speeding car. The impact of the car hitting my body was nothing compared to the strength of its aftershock that made a young child like Lylia fly in the air.

I did everything I could to make sure that I stopped the speeding car, while I watched Mateo leaping into the air as he caught Lylia.

I know that this is not the right thing to say, but I am glad that we are in the hospital’s vicinity, and that they were able

Today is the day Kelly and Lylia are moving back to the Starlight pack. I was glad that Kelly didn’t stop me from coming with them, and even let Lylia sit with me. Aiden got in first to fix the car seat as I continued to talk with Mateo. “Do you feel the way I do?” Mateo asked. “What do you mean?” I asked, although a part of me had an idea of what he was referring to. “Don’t you feel that we miss something?”“I get that feeling,” I replied. “But I just don’t know how to prove it.” “Same with me,” Mateo replied. “I just feel that we have a mole in our midst, but we don’t have anything to prove it. All we have is an assumption.” “Exactly.” “Let’s keep it to ourselves for now and discuss it more once we get more proof.” I nodded in agreement just in time to hear my daughter say, “Phalpha!”I love the sound of my daughter’s voice, even though I know that she’s running towards Mateo right now. But to my surprise, instead of going to Mateo, my daughter ran to me. I knelt to be on

Last night’s dinner was one of the best dinners I've had. A chill night between family and close friends. With good food and a delicious dinner. We were still at the hospital when Mateo, Alejandro, and Mika started cooking dinner. While they were preparing, Aiden and Dave assisted Lylia and me with checking out and getting Lylia’s prescription. “You could give this to the doctor in the Starlight Pack. This is Lylia’s medical abstract. So they would know what happened to Lylia and the treatment that was done to her.” I took the brown envelope from Aiden and placed it in the bag with all the important documents related to Lylia. We headed home once we had finished checking out. A part of me was a bit disappointed that Leo didn’t show up. I know that he told me that he would be with us as we head back to the Starlight pack, but after his speech yesterday, I thought he would be the one to assist us with checking out. Instead, my brother arrived in his place. He told me that Leo had

We stayed at the hospital for one more day as per the doctor’s request. We also decided to have dinner tomorrow at Aiden’s house before we leave the next day. Mateo left to check on some things at the pack before we return, and promises to be at the dinner tomorrow night. “Knock, knock,” Aiden said before coming inside the room. I placed my index finger against my lips, signalling for him to lower his voice. Lylia was currently asleep, and I really wanted her to rest. I gestured him towards the couch and walked towards him and sat beside him on the couch. “So you’re really leaving the day after tomorrow?” Aiden asked. “Yes,” I replied. “It’s the right thing to do. Besides, I wasn’t supposed to be here. I was supposed to be banished, supposed to be dead.”“What would you do regarding Leo?” The question didn’t surprise me at all. I could see it coming before Aiden even asked it. “I know that the right thing to do is to tell Lylia,” I glanced over my shoulder towards Lylia, who w

Everything was fine. The heavy weight on my shoulders was finally lifted as my daughter Lylia opened her eyes. It was like everything in the world was finally right. “Baby,” I wrapped her in my arms, wanting to make sure that this was real. That she was really awake. “Mwommy,” Lylia said, her voice still weak, but I was glad that she was finally okay. “Yes, baby,” I said as I checked on her. The door of her room opened, and Mika walked holding a bag of food that she got for us. Her eyes widened as she saw Lylia sitting up. “Lylia, baby,” she said as she dropped the bag of food and rushed towards us. “You’re awake,” she added. I didn’t miss the sound of relief in her voice. Mika had been my friend since Lylia was born. She was like Mika’s second mother. If there was someone I could trust Lylia with, it would be her. “Could you get the doctor so he could check on her?” I asked Mika, who nodded, before turning around to leave. The doctor made a thorough check on my daughter and d

The runners that we have sent out to check our allied borders found nothing that was amiss. Still, because of what had happened, all of us decided to continue to make the runners check the allied borders on a bi-hourly basis. Bothered by what Mateo told me yesterday, I decided to include another clause for our group of runners. “Why don’t we have a runner representative for each of our packs?” I suggested. “It would be easy to alarm all of us if they saw sightings of Rogue wolves,” I added to make sure that everyone knew the importance of this request, without any of them asking the real motive regarding the request. “I think that it would be the best move for us right now,” Mateo agreed, “This would also lessen the casualties because all of us will be prepared then.” I watched as everyone nodded in agreement. We continued to discuss other matters, including the sweeping of the forest. It was the shortcut to most of the packs, but ever since the attack, a lot of people have avoide

Something was happening. I could hear the urgency from all the nurses and the doctors, but I was just not sure what was happening. The uncertainty itself was unsettling. I could tell that Mika felt the same way as I do. I could see her restlessness as she kept on pacing back and forth on the carpet and then drifting to the window to check on something. All I know is that she had been restless since the alarm about safety went off. But what made it more worrisome was not being able to receive any reply from Mateo or Alejandro. After several minutes, which felt like forever, Mika finally gave up pacing and decided to go out and get some answers for herself, only to bump into my brother, who was about to get in.“Sorry,” Mika said as she stepped aside. “No worries,” my brother replied as Dave pushed her wheelchair. “I was the one who didn’t knock.”“What is happening?” I asked as I looked at my brother for answers. “We heard the alarm went off, and Mateo or Alejandro is not replying.”
