Chapter Two: Mate

Killian’s POV

“Alpha,” Joe said as he bowed his head respectfully. Even as the head of warriors, he had never for once shown a slight disrespect for me.

“Kale informed me that you planned for us to attack earlier than planned, is there any reason for that?” I ask releasing a bit of my Alpha power to be sure he wouldn’t tell a lie.

“Sebastian went away for a while, by my estimate, he would be back by tonight or tomorrow, if we attack now, we would be taking them at their most unguarded point, meaning that we can take a win without losing one man,” Joe said.

His words made a lot of sense, winning battles that made me not lose any man was the dream.

“Any clue on where he had gone?” I had to be certain we weren’t walking into a trap.

“Intel said he headed towards the north, my best guess goes to him visiting a witch clan.” Joe replied, pursing his lips.

I frowned, that wasn’t good news. The witches were sly and tricky. I would never entrust my men’s lives around any of them.

“Make arrangements then, we set out tonight.” There was no way he could cover the journey from the north back in one night which meant that if we had his men tied down before he came, I could handle him and any help he got.

“I will get to it immediately.” He said curtly and with another swift bow, he left my study.

Sebastian ran one of the packs that were under my rule and control, yet, not only had they been running amok, but they had also stopped paying tributes, a rebellious act that I was certain was only going to bite me in the ass if I didn’t take action now.

The full moon was some days away, if I could capture them just before then, some of their females would be suitable mate partners for my wolves. With our large numbers, many of them, including me, had no mate yet.

As much as I wanted a woman, I wanted my fated mate. The one the moon goddess has picked out for me. She would be my Luna, my queen, and everything I could ever need.

Without wasting any more time, I went out to prepare for battle. Usually, I would not go for the takeover of a small size clan, but Sebastian making that trip to the witches’ coven made me wary. I definitely want such a situation where something they couldn’t handle would happen and without their Alpha, their fighting spirit was usually lower.

Two hours later, I led five generals, two of my best and three random ones from the fifteen generals I had, toward Sebastian’s pack.

With the automobiles and war vehicles, we arrived at Sebastian’s pack and I frowned at its proximity to the human land.

We were not restricted from going into the human world as long as we didn’t reveal what we were, all supernatural creatures moved around humans freely. But allowing his clan to be this close to a human town simply meant that the chances of his clan being discovered by humans were higher.

After all, there were rare cases where the barrier didn’t stop some few humans from stepping into our world.

“Burn this down after, it’s too close to the human town just ahead.” I instructed one of the generals closest to me who nodded in understanding and went on to pass the information to the necessary people.

Three generals took control of the whole situation and surrounded the entire pack which was barely up to one-tenth of what my pack was.

“I think we should start moving the children and women.” Joe said and I nodded in agreement. They would barely have any resistance and make the men also surrender quickly, after all, some would be their mates and daughters.

Just as we had predicted, the moment they filled the first war vehicle with women, most of the men started surrendering and allowed my men to lead them away.

Another batch of wailing women was brought out and led into another vehicle and more men surrendered.

Alek stirred in me as a sweet smell wafted toward me, I looked around curiously, unwilling to believe what was happening.

The smell grew stronger as the last batch of women were led out of the village and led into the car. I felt a certain compulsion to follow the scent, to know what was going on and who was calling Alek, my wolf.

“Alpha, Sebastian is close, the men on the watch just spotted him,” Joe said distracting me and I could feel Alek groan as the smell disappeared.

Had I been imagining it?

“Have them not get him if none of them is strong enough.” No matter what, Sebastian was still an Alpha and couldn’t be taken down by just anyone.

With one last glance at the tightly closed vehicle, I moved with Joe toward the direction I was sure Sebastian was coming from.
