No. It couldn’t be.

Surely her mind was seeing things and that wasn’t Oliver standing across from her, looking straight at her with so much intensity, she could feel it in her bloodstream.

Kayla’s mind was a mess, between the alcohol, and the fact that she was now staring at the same man who had saved her from rogues a couple of years ago.

How she had recognized him was beyond her, because the last time she had seen him, had lasted only a few minutes, or even seconds, before she had passed out.

In a haze, Kayla straightened and looked away from him, swallowing as something began to pull at her. It wasn’t something she could understand or even dwell on, in her drunken state, so she ignored it and faced the man in front of her once again.

Maybe she was hallucinating, and Oliver wasn’t there. Maybe if she looked away long enough, she was going to find out that she had indeed been imagining him there.

So why did she suddenly feel apprehensive?
