Chapter 72

Kane's POV

It’s almost like the world slows down. The jar tumbles to earth in slow motion, and just before it hits the cobblestone, I fall to one knee. Crouching forward, I put my hands over my head, and as per usual, my magic does its own thing. Somehow, right when the bomb hits, I cast a shield over myself.

I can feel the spell batter against my protection, trying to break through, trying to extinguish my magic. Willow’s spell is much more powerful than I anticipated. My shield cracks as the shockwave washes over me, but remarkably it holds.

The witches outside will no longer be hidden, and I can’t feel their spell anymore. I mind link with my Gammas. “Kill them all.” I won’t risk them coming back here a few months or years from now, just so we can do this all over again.
