Caleb’s POV

I press my palm against her mouth as if I could stop it, as if I could keep her life from spilling out of her, but the crimson keeps seeping between my fingers. She’s so pale, so fragile in my arms, the heat of her body flickering like a dying flame. I can barely feel her pulse. My wolf howls inside me, clawing at my chest, demanding I save her, that I do something. But I can’t this bastard has the antidote. He stands before me like a shadow born of the storm itself, smug and calm while Raven’s breath rattles weakly against my shirt.

“You bastard,” I snarl, my voice breaking, vibrating through my teeth. “What did you do to her?”

He tilts his head, as if amused by my rage. “I told you, Caleb, poison, a slow one. One that eats away at her strength with every heartbeat. Right now, she is dangling between life and death.” He smirks. I can’t believe he's the same person who was clinging to her as if he loved her. So it was all for show?

  • Alpha's Mistress and the Beta   74. Who are you?

Raven’s POV Darkness clings to me like wet ash. I float in it, half-dreaming, half-drowning, voices murmur at the edges, distorted, pulling at me. Then comes the pain. It cuts through the fog, sharp and merciless, dragging me toward consciousness. My body is heavy, my chest tight, as if something is crushing me from the inside. I fight for breath, and every inhale feels like tearing through smoke. Then I feel warmth, a hand, rough, trembling, clutching mine as though I might slip away forever if he lets go. My lashes flutter, and light sears into my vision. I wince, but the grip tightens, a voice cracking through the haze. “Raven? Please, come back to me.” the words anchor me, though the voice… the voice is a stranger’s. My eyes adjust slowly, a ceiling I don’t know, walls painted in shadows, the faint scent of pinewood, smoke, and something richer, like earth after a storm. Then I see faces. One kneeling at my side, his dark hair falls forward, his eyes wide, desperate, ri

  • Alpha's Mistress and the Beta   73. She doesn't remember me.

Caleb’s POV Fenric my wolf runs like a storm unchained. The ground is a blur beneath us, each stride pounding like a drumbeat of desperation. My wolf doesn’t slow, doesn’t falter, his only thought is her, our Raven. His voice is a growl in my head, frantic, clawing at me. My own heart mirrors it, slamming against my ribs until I can’t breathe. Every shadow we pass looks like a memory of her, her smile, her laugh, the way her eyes found me in a crowd whenever we are training. Her gaze that speaks volumes. By the time Nadine-west’s outskirts rise ahead, Fenric’s rage and grief bleed into mine. I shift mid-sprint, bones snapping, fur ripping away, leaving me trembling and human in the night air. The shift steals my breath, leaves me gasping and bare. I stagger to the village edge where spare clothes are always left for wolves returning from runs. My hands shake so violently it takes me three tries to pull the trousers up, fumbling like a child. I drag a shirt over my head, b

  • Alpha's Mistress and the Beta   72. She's mine...

Raphael’s POV Her scream lingers long after her voice breaks, an echo caught between the stone walls of the cavern. I scoop her in my arms and she collapses against me, her body shuddering once before going limp. Her head falls to my shoulder, hair damp with sweat, her breath shallow and uneven. Did we perform the ritual too soon? I mean she had just consumed poison. Naah! she'll be fine. I can feel it, the ritual tore through her, stripped her raw, and in the ashes of what she was… something new has risen. I hold her tighter, staring down at her face. Even in unconsciousness her expression is fierce, brows drawn together as if she’s fighting battles in dreams. My mark burns faintly beneath her skin, pulsing like a heartbeat, she's finally mine, or so I hope. Across from me, Selene sinks to her knees, tears streaking down her pale face. “She hates me,” she whispers, voice trembling. “She always hated me, and now she’ll never forgive...” “Enough.” Kael’s voice cuts like a bla

  • Alpha's Mistress and the Beta   71. Erase him...

Raphael’s POV The forest swallows me whole as I carry her limp form in my arms. Her breaths come shallow, every rise of her chest a battle she’s losing. Each step is a war against the dread pressing down on me. She feels so small, so breakable, too fragile for what she’s meant to become. “You’ll survive,” I whisper against her hair, voice cracking. “You have to.” When I break into the clearing, they are waiting. Kael stands like a storm given flesh, shadows rippling in his veins, his presence suffocating the air itself. Selene is beside him, ethereal and trembling. “She’s fading,” Selene gasps, rushing forward. She cups Raven’s face with shaking hands, as if the touch alone could tether her back to life. Kael doesn’t waste time. His palm, glowing with dark energy, presses to Raven’s chest. The poison shudders, writhing, and then smoke bursts from her lips like expelled venom. Selene follows with a vial of shimmering liquid. She pours it gently into Raven’s mouth, chantin

  • Alpha's Mistress and the Beta   69. I can't lose her.

Caleb’s POV The room feels hollow without her. I’m still sitting in Raven’s chambers, staring at the empty space where she had been only hours ago, and it feels like someone has ripped the spine out of my body. Her scent lingers faintly on the sheets, wild earth and storm, and every breath drags it deeper into me until it burns. I should have fought harder. I should have stopped them from taking her. But all I’d done was stand there, watch those guards cuff her wrists and drag her away like she was nothing. Like she wasn’t mine. My fists slam into my knees, nails digging into my palms until I smell iron. My wolf paces furiously inside me, snarling, battering against the walls of my control. He’s screaming one word over and over, mate...mate...mate. He's broken. I bury my face in my hands. I don’t know how long I sit there, drowning in the silence she left behind, until a voice cuts through the pack bond. 'Caleb.' I jolt upright. It’s Morris, sharp, steady, Alpha. 'You’l
