I sat at the edge of the ruins with my mother’s letter open in my lap, reading the same lines over and over even though I already knew every word by heart. The late afternoon sun painted the broken stones in soft orange light. Everything felt heavy.

Lucian walked over and lowered himself beside me without saying anything. I didn’t tell him to go. We just sat there in silence for a long time, the kind of silence that didn’t feel empty.

“She called me her sweet Ciara,” I whispered eventually.

(Lucian’s POV) We started our journey back home with Nyx sitting in front of me on the same horse. Her back pressed against my chest, my arm wrapped around her waist to keep her steady. The journey was quiet, but my mind was anything but. Every small shift of her body reminded me of last night. The way she had moaned my name and came apart in my arms, soft, desperate and real. I had gone to her room last night with no real plan except to be near her. What happened between us was not planned but It was inevitable. And now I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Kael was still restless inside me, satisfied but possessive. She had called me her husband yesterday and those words had done something dangerous to me. Something I wasn’t ready to name yet. As the familiar stone walls and tall gates of the estate finally came into view, I felt a deep shift inside my chest. It was the same estate I had known my whole life. The same heavy gates, same grey towers and banners flying in the wind. Yet

*MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: GIVE ME EVERYTHING: DRAMATIC VIOLIN.* Lucian’s POV I couldn’t get her voice out of my head. *My husband.* Nyx had said it so simply outside Maren’s house, but those two words had wrecked me. I sat on the edge of the bed in my room at the inn, elbows on my knees, staring at the floor. The fire crackled softly, but it did nothing to calm the storm inside me. Kael was pacing wildly beneath my skin, restless and hungry in a way I had never felt before. She called me her husband. I thought she was going to introduce me as the Alpha or even Lucian but yet she said husband. Something primal rose in my chest. I had spent weeks convincing myself this marriage was only revenge. A cage and a punishment. But when she stood there and claimed me in front of Maren, something shifted. Kael wanted her. Not just her body. He wanted the claim. The truth in her voice. The way she had looked at me afterward. I stood up before I could talk myself out of it. I needed to see he

I stepped out of Maren’s house with my heart still racing. The conversation had left me raw in the best and worst ways. Maren followed me outside, wiping her hands on her apron. She wanted to see me off. She looked at the three people waiting for me.“And who are these beautiful people?” she asked, smiling warmly.I cleared my throat. “This is Elara. She’s… my friend. She’s been helping me with Mara.”Maren nodded kindly. “It’s nice to meet you, Elara.”I continued, gesturing to the tall man beside her. “This is Thorne, the pack’s Beta.” I said that as an introduction for Thorne as i really did not what to call the kimd of relationship we had. Thorne gave a small respectful nod.I swallowed hard. I could feel Lucian’s intense gaze burning into the side of my face, like he was daring me to say it. My stomach flipped. “And uhm…” I cleared my throat again. “This is Lucian. My.. my husband.”The words felt strange coming out of my mouth. Elara’s eyebrows shot up. Thorne looked genuinely

His voice was quiet. “Is that who you want to be now?”I stared at the letter, tracing the smudged ink with my eyes. The question sat in my chest for a while before I answered.“I don’t know,” I said honestly. “I’m still Nyx. The girl who learned how to survive by being sharp and cold because softness got people killed. But part of me… part of me wants to know who Ciara was. The little girl who had parents that loved her. I want to know what my life was supposed to

Nyx's POV I sat cross legged on the bare ground outside the ruins, dirt warm under my palms. The sun hit my face directly. No walls. No stone pressing in. Just the open sky and the actual land where my family once lived. Elara stood a few steps away, watching me. “The sessions at the estate were us pushing against something. Here we are not pushing. Here we let the land do what it does.” She paused. “Follow Mara. Do not direct her. Just follow.” I closed my eyes and breathed out slowly. This time it felt different right from the first breath. At the estate, Mara always fought. She pushed and strained like she was trying to break through a locked door. Here, she simply opened. Like a hand that had been clenched for nineteen years finally relaxing. I didn’t force anything. I didn’t reach or pull. I just followed where she wanted to go. And the land answered. Warm flashes came first. Not the cold, bloody nightmares I was used to. These felt… alive. I smelled fresh bread ba

Nyx's pov I held the letter in my hands and my fingers wouldn’t stop shaking. The paper felt thin and important, like it could tear if I gripped it too hard. The vault was cold. The stone walls pressed in from every side. Lucian stood right next to me, close enough that I could feel his body heat cutting through the chill. Elara and Thorne stayed back, quiet. They knew not to touch this moment. I broke the seal. The handwriting was messy, slanted and rushed. Some words were smudged like tears had fallen on the paper while she wrote. My chest tightened so bad I almost couldn’t breathe. *My dearest Ciara,* The name hit me like a slap. Ciara. Not Nyx. My real name. The one my real parents gave me. Tears stung my eyes but I forced them back and kept reading. *If you are reading this, then the worst has happened. Your father covered me so I could reach the vault and leave these last words for you. He stayed behind to buy us time. I am writing this with the last strength I have l
